- Carshalton High School for Girls is a highly successful school, judged by Ofsted in November 2017 as ‘Good’ in all categories. We are an inclusive learning community that puts excellence, achievement, respect, and care at the heart of everything we do. These principles are reflected in our Safeguarding Statement and summed up in our core values of Community, Harmony, Success, and Growth. We aim to provide, for all students, in all years and key stages, an entitlement curriculum that not only encompasses those elements required by law but which broadens, enriches, and stimulates students learning. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum that challenges, extends, and develops all students, whatever their ability. The curriculum is tailored to individual needs and abilities, with a Gifted and Talented program and a good Learning Support department students always feel at ease with their learning. All subjects are taught in specialist teaching accommodation including ICT suites, Science Laboratories, and Technology Suites. All teaching areas are equipped with interactive whiteboards. Video, digital cameras, and video projectors are used to enhance teaching and learning. At Carshalton High School for Girls, we recognize not only the importance of allowing students to flourish academically but we also embrace our wider role in preparing them for their adult life. Part of our role in that preparation is ensuring we promote British Values alongside our core school values: community, harmony, success, and growth. Our government has set out five fundamental British Values that we share as a society and we actively promote these values through our curriculum, particularly our Citizenship curriculum, and the holistic development of our learners through active engagement with the community, student voice, current affairs, and student and teacher run activities. Part of our school ethos is growth. We strive to prepare students to enter the world as independent, confident citizens that have a life-long passion for learning and making informed choices throughout their lives. Students are encouraged to know, understand, and exercise their rights, responsibilities, and personal freedoms and receive advice and support about how to exercise these safely, for example, through our teaching of E-safety in ICT lessons, Sociology lessons, and during tutor time as well as through assemblies. CHSG sets high expectations and promotes strong aspirations from all students encouraging them to strive for nothing short of optimum success. We pride ourselves in successfully unlocking the potential of all members of our school and enriching them with opportunities for spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development that incorporate our country’s fundamental British Values. Our ethos is built on our core beliefs of Community, Harmony, Success, and Growth. We are an inclusive community where the happiness, well-being, and achievement of every student are at the heart of everything we do. High expectation is the norm in a community built on respect. Students are extremely proud of their school and the staff is amazing, providing high quality, inspirational teaching and going the extra distance to ensure students achieve at and beyond their potential. The achievement and progress of students in recent years have improved significantly, with high attainment and exceptional progress the norm. We are a reflective school, always seeking ways to continue to improve and to be ‘outstanding in all aspects. View full school
