The National University of Arts is undergoing a process of designing a new communication model. What renders us viable in this process of transformation is our strong tradition, the Western-European technical school, on the one hand, and the Byzantine tradition, on the other, the vanguard elements provided by renowned students such as Constantin Brancusi and Victor Brauner, the knowledge of great professors from the interwar and postwar eras and, generally speaking, the vision embodied by authentic artists, graduates of the Bucharest school. The communication paradigm change prompts the teaching personnel to permanently research and analyze the contemporary artistic context regarding language and significations. In this context, we hope that future generations of students possess the skills, sensitivity, and cultural knowledge necessary to support our enterprise. As a unique higher education establishment in the field of visual arts in Bucharest, with a good reputation nationally, the University ensures the appropriate training for future practitioners and theoreticians. The essential premise of the education we provide is its responsiveness to the demands of contemporary Romanian society and the synchronicity with the significant artistic trends and tendencies in contemporary universal art. This receptivity to continuous renewal considers the tradition of the local artistic education characterized from the beginning by an openness to European values. In order to attain these goals, the University has an elite teaching body, well connected, both nationally and internationally, to the present cultural life, as well as technological assets. The University's Library holds a varied collection of specialized books, including an audiovisual section whose rich patrimony represents an excellent visual documentation source. Some exhibitions, some with international participation, take place within the exhibition area of the University, which is located in its immediate vicinity. The events organized within UNA GALERIA support, especially the innovative projects for the curricular agenda or the extra-curricular activities carried out by students and by the teaching personnel members, thus contributing to the University's promotion's image. Even from the launching of its first events, UNA GALERIA has won the attention of artists, journalists, art critics, curators, and the public due to its high standards and seriousness of the exhibition agenda and the elegance of the exhibition space. The University also owns a dormitory building in the central area of the capital, close to the studios, not far from Gara de Nord. The administration of international relations and the endeavors concerning the promotion of the University's image in the current artistic and cultural context is the task of the Department of Image, Communication and International Relations, which advances and drafts to this end specific strategies and programs. Its main activity is launching, facilitating, and coordinating collaboration agreements with other universities and similar departments in the country and abroad, with increased attention to education and research programs promoted by the European Commission, international organizations, and other states' governments. To integrate the University in the European network of institutions in the same field, the Department promotes and develops studies abroad through international cooperation programs in research and education. A research center that coordinates fundamental and applied research within the University similarly operates within the institution, in conformity with national and international standards, emphasizing interdisciplinarity. The subfields of research are the study of tradition in artistic creation, traditional and modern technologies, and the applicative research in visual arts. View full university
