  1. R.E.A.L International Schools is committed to the principle of equal opportunity in education. The school does not discriminate against individuals based on race, religion, or ethnicity in its admission process. However, we may take into consideration an applicant’s prior educational background and linguistic ability at the entry-level. We encourage parents to submit their applications early, as there are waiting lists for selected key stages at the school. Due to the various national and international school systems and academic year dates, our enrolment is open throughout the year but places are subject to availability. Our team welcomes the opportunity to meet and guide you through the application process, as well as giving you a tour of our schools. Please contact our respective campuses in advance via phone or email to arrange for a personalized appointment. R.E.A.L Schools provides hostel facilities at selected campuses with priority given to both local and foreign students from outstation and abroad. Our hostel accommodation comes equipped with all the basic amenities such as wireless internet connectivity service (WiFi) as well as a 24-hour CCTV security system, among other things. The aim is to create a ‘home away from home environment that meets the needs, safety, comfort, and convenience of our students. Admission into the hostel is a separate process from admission into the school. New applicants who wish to apply for boarding accommodation are required to submit the Hostel Application Form during the admission process. At R.E.A.L Schools, we pride ourselves in giving students a distinct and diverse range of learning experiences that not only enhance their knowledge and skills but nurture talent and potential as well. These broad scopes of educational endeavors encompass everything from student excursions to practical learning platforms. R.E.A.L International Schools has long been an avid advocate of promoting greater student interest in Science & Technology. This overriding objective has been supported by fully-equipped Science labs and unique opportunities afforded to students such as the Cambridge IGCSE Practical Science subject. We are one of only two schools in Malaysia certified by Cambridge UK to run this program. We house dedicated labs that cater to one Science subject each, from Physics to Chemistry and Biology. In addition, there is a state-of-the-art ‘fume chamber’ for Chemistry experiments to be conducted safely and effectively. Other exceptional exercises which are part of R.E.A.L Schools’ hands-on learning approach include ‘Red Cabbage Chemistry’ – where students learn how to create their pH indicator to test the acidity or alkalinity of just about any liquid or substance – as well as organizing Science Fairs and field trips to places like the National Science Centre where we broaden students’ horizons and pique their curiosity towards science and discovery. Enhancing the ‘Technology’ effort is the school’s innovative LEGO & Robotics program which is incorporated into the curriculum itself to offer students a truly stimulating and enjoyable educational experience. Students are not only able to exercise their creativity in building a multitude of LEGO block designs, but also learn basic computer programming skills to operate robotic models in performing simple tasks. To this end, R.E.A.L Schools provide sophisticated ICT labs and training expertise for a program that is not only fun but develops students’ problem-solving and critical thinking capacities as well. R.E.A.L Schools is a diverse community of learning that is committed to delivering holistic education by offering students outstanding opportunities and practical learning platforms that enable them to explore lessons beyond books. At the same time, we nurture their character, collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and creativity. Cahaya Campus, Johor Bahru was the third and newest private school to be established under the R.E.A.L Education Group. Established in 2008, this second Cahaya Campus follows in the footsteps of its sister schools by offering both international and national curriculums within one family campus. Located about 9km east of Johor Bahru (JB) city and within the central corridor of the Iskandar Malaysia region, the private school is well connected to many important landmarks through a web of highways and roads, attracting many students from the south, particularly Singapore. The private school firmly believes in laying strong foundations in students’ language proficiency and developing vital communication skills, amongst other core values. It strives to constantly encourage and provide valuable opportunities for students to polish their linguistic and public speaking skills. This is achieved by, among others, initiating the Toastmasters model into classroom learning by empowering students to speak on a variety of topics within set objectives. In the long run, students can build greater self-confidence in articulating their thoughts, ideas, or opinions effectively and coherently.
  2. Fairview Johor (FISJ) an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School stands proud within a new purpose-built campus amid the bustling Tebrau area in Bandar Dato Onn. Easily accessible from Singapore and within minutes of the Senai International Airport, FISJ has attracted a fairly balanced diversity in the student population. Our main focus is to provide a rich academic curriculum and thus our advent into IB. Using the UK National Curriculum as our solid base and the IB curriculum framework to envelope it, we have devised a learning journey that matters to our digital-age students. Students no longer need to rely on one author’s perspective and memories textbooks to ace examinations. Students in Fairview are exposed to myriad approaches to learning, learn life skills rather than to score in examinations, share and collaborate in learning while at the same time take responsibility for their learning. Action and service form an integral component of the curriculum and the whole school community share in the learning experience. ‘An instrument a child’ – all students must learn a musical instrument as part of the curriculum. ‘Edu Resort’ –styled along the lines of an Outward Bound adventure, students experience a week in our very own beach resort in Port Dickson, Malaysia. Expeditions – Bi-Annual overseas expeditions for Middle school students build in the life skills of survival, camaraderie spirit, independence, taking calculated risks, caring, sharing, open-mindedness, and of course being reflective. Stress is placed on co-curricular activities and healthy competitions among other schools are encouraged. We offer a widespread range of uniformed groups, clubs, and games for all children ranging from the Primary Years to the Middle Years. We believe that the community must be part of the learning process of the students. Parents join in classroom learning experiences with students, partake in events and initiate activities that would be beneficial to the learning journey. Coffee mornings, carnival, National Days, traditional festivals, and other special days or events, like Pink Month, 30 hours fast for World Vision, and various other charitable activities are heavily patronized by our parent community. Our academic staff strength boasts of Ph.D. and Masters Holders in education and hail from several countries. All staff has to attend weekly professional development sessions apart from the mandatory workshops conducted by the IB Office. As the ONLY IB World School in Johor for the Primary Years and Middle Years Programme, I am proud to say that we have established a niche in IB education for the past 7 years not just for the 21st century and beyond but in general for a better world. Established in 1978, Fairview International School Johor Bahru (FISJB) is the premier international school in Malaysia that offers the whole suite of IB curriculum. Our highly qualified teachers, predominantly internationally trained and experienced teachers deliver quality education to students from pre-school to Year 12, culminating in the widely recognized IB Diploma. At FISJB, our students are encouraged to explore and discover in a learning environment that embraces individual abilities. The belief that ‘good teachers make for good learning’ is deeply ingrained into the Fairview ethos. Teachers are nurtured through an advanced systematic professional development program. Lifelong learning takes on a new meaning at Fairview as teachers and learners both learn together and from each other! Every year, over 40 teachers are recognized for their contribution to the school by being offered a Masters in Education Full Scholarship in association with Sheffield Hallam University (UK). With over 120 Masters's students in Fairview at any one time, lifelong learning, a unique culture that believes in continuous personal development, self-efficacy, and pushing the boundaries of education is fostered. At Fairview, we believe it is only when our educators approach education with humility, an open mind, and excitement at the possibilities within that we may be able to unlock the potential in the students placed in our charge. The 2015 results of the IB Diploma program bear testimony to the unique Fairview culture. By committing to the delivery of a holistic academic program integrating the development of skills (Approaches to Learning – ATL), values (Learner Profile), and experiential learning (Community, Action, Service – CAS), we can nurture learners who are academically inspirational and holistically balanced. Our students achieved outstanding results with the highest score being 42 out of the maximum of 45. While the world average stood at 30, Fairview’s average was a stunning 36 with 61 % of our students gaining either 6 or 7 points out of the maximum of 7 and a 100% pass rate. In 2015, our students expectedly received offers and scholarships for admittance at world-renowned universities like London School of Economics (Scholarship – Economics), Kings College (Scholarship – Dentistry), University of British Columbia (Scholarship – Engineering), and University of Melbourne (Scholarship – Chemical Engineering). Annual Expeditions to local and international destinations bring learning outside the 4 classroom walls, creating contextual connections to the educational experiences. Students bring home invaluable experiences as they scale the Great Wall of China whilst empathizing with the incredible sacrifices borne by the laborers, all the time making connections between cause and causation, finally reflecting on its relevance to the current day. Students at Fairview are introduced to the concept of international-mindedness from the many Fairs, Celebrations, and Food Festivals held in the School. However, to truly internalize the concept, the student organizes FairMUN (Model United Nations) conference that brings together over 300 students from around the region to discuss, challenge, and explores the many impossible decisions made by world leaders. Fairview also organized the World Scholars Cup competition, bringing over 3000 students together from around the world to KL. A curriculum based on the best research evidence and successful teaching and learning strategies for children of diverse backgrounds and learning needs. A vibrant center for educational, recreational, cultural, and social programs for children and adults in an international community that draws upon and contributes to the vitality of the international community through an innovative and focused curriculum. A culture of continuous professional growth for all staff, Fairview functions as a “Hub” for educators throughout the world, regularly engaging teachers in a wide range of learning opportunities that promote ongoing professional growth... Fairview International School aims to be a vibrant center for educational, personal, and social growth in the world providing a rich academic curriculum for children in the local and international community. Through the use of best practices in teaching and learning, Fairview International School will educate, motivate and inspire students in an educational environment that stimulates learning in a nurturing social and emotional climate. Fairview School is committed to raising the standards of education not only in its schools but in the region through continuous training and development in the best possible teaching pedagogies.
  3. Excitement and enthusiasm are the most important part of choosing a school for your children. If a School, a subject, an activity, or a teacher excites your child, the hard work and intellectual effort necessary for your child's achievement will come naturally. If your child stays excited, your child will find years of great academic experience without even noticing how it happened and as parents you will be proud of your child's holistic development. The school motto "Excelsior" is a Latin and archaic English word that means "ever higher". It reflects our philosophy of pursuing excellence in every aspect of our operations and academic delivery, as well as the perseverance and determination to achieve higher goals. We are committed to excellence in education by striving to provide each student with opportunities to reach their full potential as lifelong learners in a holistic, challenging, and supportive learning environment that will ultimately prepare them to play an active and responsible role as global citizens in a multi-cultural world. Excelsior International School has established a Board of Governors, whose primary roles include enhancing school standards, setting strategic direction, and ensuring that the delivery of education is suitable to the needs, ages, and abilities of the students. Members of the Board of Governors will serve a 3-year term and will be eligible for re-appointment to further term(s). The composition of the Board of Governors is made up of academic experts, who are committed to the promotion of high standards of educational achievement. Although board members are not paid members of the School, ex-officio such as Principal and designated corporate or management employees may be invited to join Board meetings and discussions, to provide technical advice and assistance. While the Board of Governors is responsible for the objectives, overall strategic direction, and policy, the day-to-day management of the School rests firmly with the Principal and the school staff.
