- Archer Academya fully established part of the north London landscape, with 750 students walking through our gates each day, we’re still as enthusiastic about delivering an ambitious and aspirational education as we were on our first day in 2013. And as our school has grown, our earliest students have grown with it, becoming confident, accomplished young people who are ready to make their way in the world. Indeed, preparing our students for their life after our school is at the heart of what we do at the Archer Academy. Of course, that means providing them with the best possible education and the results they need to succeed at the next stage of their lives. And our inspiring teachers deliver an interesting and challenging curriculum that does exactly that. But it also means exposing them to a wealth of extra opportunities outside the classroom, from twice-weekly enrichment courses and horizon-broadening trips to watching and taking part in all sorts of performances, tournaments, and competitions. And it means encouraging and supporting them as they take risks, make some inevitable mistakes, and discover what they’re all about. Every member of my Archer Academy team shares the same goal to help our students become positive, thoughtful, and skilled young people, with a zest for life and generosity of spirit that will help them make the most of the opportunities they’re given, and overcome any obstacles they may face. Our vision for the Archer Academy is rooted in our desire to provide an ambitious, inclusive, and enjoyable education for our students which will prepare them for adult life. We believe that by giving them a love of learning, transferable skills, and the determination to succeed, we will help them rise to whatever challenges they face. At the Archer Academy, we recognize that each of our students is an individual, with distinct characteristics, talents, aptitudes, and attitudes to learning. And just as no two children are the same, no two Archer Academy students will have the same journey through our school. From the moment our new students join us, we develop a personal approach to their learning which means that each one will be encouraged and supported to make the most of their abilities and overcome whatever challenges they face. If a student is flourishing, we don’t just celebrate their achievements we offer stretch and challenge opportunities to help them aim even higher. If a student is struggling or has specific educational needs, we give them extra support, such as booster classes or individual tuition. And if we catch a student coasting, we inspire them to be their personal best. This enthusiastic, individual approach, combined with our high expectations, ensure that each student’s journey is a positive one. Our students’ progress is supported by a consistent attitude towards behavior and discipline which ensures that our classrooms are happy and productive learning spaces. By creating and implementing clear rules, routines, and expectations, we teach our students to make the right choices and behave in the right way, both in and outside the classroom. We believe parents have an important role to play in supporting our school and helping our students to flourish. We see the relationship as a three-way partnership between parents, students, and staff, based on mutual trust and respect, and we work hard to make parents feel involved in the life of our school. We also ask parents to support us in helping their children meet our expectations, such as wearing the correct uniform, completing homework on time, and adhering to our smartphone ban. Being a teenager in the 21st century can be a challenge, so a school must be a place where our students feel safe and cared for. We work hard to build supportive relationships between staff and students and provide a pastoral team of form tutors, heads of year, and other key members of staff who are focused on our student's wellbeing. When things are going well for our students, we are their biggest champions when they are finding things more difficult, we use our experience and empathy to help them pick themselves up, dust themselves down, and move forwards.
