Founded in 1889, Missouri Military Academy is an accredited non-profit independent private school. MMA offers both boarding and day school options for boys, grades 7-12, and a variety of summer camps. Missouri Military Academy is located in the Midwest on 288 acres in Mexico, Missouri, approximately 2 hours from St. Louis and 2.5 hours from Kansas City.

Because we are a small school, our faculty and staff mentors share a personal and professional relationship with each cadet and with each other. Working together, faculty and staff will get a deep understanding of the many facets of your boy’s personality and intellect, learn how to motivate him and how to collectively best develop his unique gifts.
Missouri Military Academy’s 4 x 4 block schedule immerses each boy in 4 courses per semester. This enables our students to learn eight courses per year thoroughly and gives them the time they require each day for at least one hour of quiet study and homework. Missouri Military Academy leans on the strength of several regional academic partners who help us provide an educational experience that’s second to none.
MMA understands that middle school students are curious and willing to learn those things they find useful. As they become young adults, they are interested in solving “real-life” problems. Our small classes enable our Middle School faculty to have a closer relationship with the students, enhancing their education. Most students attend classes with others in their grade.
Classes in our Middle School are small, averaging only ten students per class. We enroll students in classes based on their grade and achievement level, then provide the attention that will guide them to success. We recognize and embrace the fact that middle school-aged boys are motivated by different things - they are challenged by projects, hands-on learning, human interaction, and high expectations.
Our goal is to allow students to advance as far as they can academically while maintaining a high level of achievement. We believe that all students can achieve their grade level if provided the proper academic support, classroom structure, and challenging curriculum. If a student demonstrates advanced ability in a particular academic area, he may be assigned to a class in another grade.
Mandatory athletics participation throughout the school year fulfill the physical education requirement for our middle school students. Boys have much energy, and we understand that they can focus more fully on their academic work if they can participate in fun, challenging athletics.
