Detroit Country Day School is a private, independent, co-educational, non-denominational preschool through grade 12 college preparatory school focused on a well-rounded liberal arts education. Emphasis on academics, arts, athletics, and character development is prevalent across the curriculum. The school admits students of any race, color, religion, sexual orientation, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students.

The faculty's experience and training help to challenge and support each student in all areas of academics and their social, emotional, and physical growth. Our faculty provide a safe and nurturing environment and work with parents to benefit every student's education. Caring, collaborative relationships connect students, teachers, and parents, creating the many advantages of a Detroit Country Day School education.

Throughout Detroit Country Day School, students learn in an atmosphere that promotes self-confidence and self-esteem, allowing them to become independent learners and thinkers, well prepared for secondary school. Our goal is to develop and nurture the entire child. This involves activities that stretch well beyond the classroom. Every environment—from the playing field to the library—helps to enrich each student's life. Whether in the classroom, out on the playing fields, on the stage, or in any of the extracurricular activities offered, their educational experiences should always push them to their full potential.

For over 100 years, the Detroit Country Day School has transformed students into character leaders who go on to significant accomplishments. Our alumni, more than 6,000 healthy, live across the country and around the world and are leaders in the fields of industry, medicine, government, and non-profits for humanitarian causes. They carry the lessons they learn at Detroit Country Day School into adulthood and often look back on their years here as among the most rewarding of their lives.

The Global Initiatives program aims to prepare students for life with an educational experience beyond a desk, beyond the classroom, and a single institution's walls. It is a rigorous global studies program geared for students seeking to learn, engage, and contribute to broader, more diverse global contexts. The comprehensive program prepares students to develop as active, informed, and empathetic global citizens.

Our goal is to help all students enroll at colleges to prosper and emerge prepared to lead a productive and satisfying life. With a noted history of 100 percent four-year college placement, our admission rates to the most selective colleges, including the Ivy League, are significantly above the state and national averages. Our pride is in the successful matching of each student to colleges that meet their unique goals, needs, and criteria.
