St Mary’s Nercwys we strive to provide an all-around education, to set good foundations for future development, and to enable the pupils to realize that learning can be fun and gain a sense of achievement. We believe that it is important for children to respect themselves, to be polite, and to be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others. We encourage children to use their initiative to develop as individuals achieve their full potential and to enjoy and fully participate in the life of the school. We have high standards and high expectations for our pupils both in work and behavior. Your participation is crucial and we are keen to have parents involved at all levels. We have plenty of I.T equipment in both classrooms, including I-Pads, laptops, and Interactive Whiteboards. We value the development of pupils’ digital competence. St Mary’s Nercwys is a school for children of ages 3 to 11 years. There is a Foundation Phase classroom and two working spaces for junior pupils. The pupil toilets are located in the practical area at the back of the school. There are sufficient facilities for our pupil numbers and they are cleaned every evening in preparation for the school day. Outside facilities comprise the main playground, a separate early years playground, and extensive school playing fields.
Our school garden enables the children to develop their skills in the outdoor environment. We have two members of staff who have had Forest Schools training. Our school is a Voluntary Aided School within the Diocese of St Asaph. We liaise closely with the Diocese and Flintshire Education Authority. The School’s Admissions Policy is updated annually and available from the School Office. We were inspected by Estyn in March 2014 and were graded as good, the report is available online. We were also inspected by the Church at the same time and were graded as excellent and good. A copy of this is available on the school website or from the school office
