Embassy of Pakistan Cairo has maintained a cherished tradition of Pakistan Missions Abroad to provide affordable education facilities to its diasporas. Pakistan International School started functioning in Cairo, in 1982, under the supervision and guidance of the Ambassador of Pakistan. The school primarily sought to cater to the needs of children of the Pakistani community living in Cairo. However, to maintain the optimal teacher-student ratio in every class, the school opened its doors to the children of other expatriates. Their response was overwhelming. The PISC was thus able to gain the name and fame of an international school.
The school is run under the auspices of the Embassy of Pakistan. It is supervised by a Board of Governors, which is chaired by the Ambassador of Pakistan to Egypt. Every effort is made to select Members of the Board from different walks of life, to benefit from their experiences and ideas. Preference is given to the community but parent representatives are also welcomed.
The school offers an international curriculum of Cambridge Primary, Secondary and IGCSE, AS, A levels, and Edexcel (London University) IGCSE for all students. PISC has the status of a private international school and is not tied to the Egyptian education system. The language of instruction is English. PISC has enjoyed consistent examination success in all systems and at all levels and we are proud of being one of the top academic schools in Cairo as our students have gained entry to leading universities around the world.
Zamalek campus of PISC is equipped with modern educational tools such as a tartan surfaced multi-sports court, state-of-the-art science and computer laboratories, and an enticing library. The classrooms are also equipped with smart whiteboards and projectors.
The curricular and extra-curricular activities offered by the school are aimed at making the child’s learning experience positive and productive. Every effort is therefore made to harness the potential talent and social interests of the children. Hence, the school seeks to integrate academic pursuit with extra-curricular activities, which include sports, music, art, and outdoor excursions to develop the personalities and abilities of our students.
The PISC aims at providing quality education at affordable costs and to foster the core values of respect, responsibility, dignity, care, and compassion that would help create a dynamic, enlightened, and progressive society, deriving strength from diversity.
The PISC strives to provide a secure and congenial atmosphere that inspires a passion for learning. The curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities are tailored to develop the academic, social and physical aptitude of the pupils. Students are encouraged to be perspicacious and inquisitive, with confidence and perseverance.
The PISC strives for a carefully selected Scheme of Studies at the Secondary and Higher secondary levels and offers a curriculum prescribed by the Cambridge University (U.K.), University of London (Edexcel), and the Federal Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education, Islamabad. Mindful of modern educational needs in an ever-changing world and the international accreditation of its courses, PISC also follows the Cambridge Primary and Secondary Programs.
Sound academic principles based on Pakistani and British curricula form the basis for a variety of teaching and learning strategies at PISC. A student-centered approach is adopted at each stage of a child’s education to take into account levels of maturity and knowledge of each student. At different stages of their schooling, pupils are involved in both individual and teamwork, thus building their self-confidence and increasing co-operation towards others. The school has been producing highly commendable results and each year its students are admitted into well-reputed universities/educational institutions and professional colleges all over the world.
Respecting cultural diversity, the School provides an enabling environment for the development of intellectual and social faculties in a congenial and cohesive atmosphere. It is therefore imperative for teachers and students alike to adhere to a code of conduct devised by the school. The conduct of the teachers, staff, and students alike should reflect an awareness of their rights and responsibilities. It is highly desirable to demonstrate politeness, courtesy, and respect for each other's sensitivities at all times. Self-critique and soul searching is highly advisable to develop a sense of responsibility and respect for others. It is better to admit own mistakes rather than seeking to blame others.
Students must also realize that their conduct bears consequences. Positive actions shall be rewarded while negative or disruptive deeds would invoke a penalty. Dignity and self-esteem demand mutual respect among teachers, staff, and students alike. It is unacceptable to belittle or mock or deride any person or object. Students are not allowed to leave a class without the permission of the teacher or miss an extra-curricular activity.
Teachers must be diligent in making proper plans and arrangements for extra practices, or excursions and study tours in cooperation with the school management. All teachers and staff members are expected to be on time for school, classes, and meetings. Tardiness shall be deemed highly negative. It is acceptable for teachers to trade lessons to facilitate trips etc.
