Welcome to Trinity Montessori School! We are delighted that you have taken an interest in Trinity Montessori School and hope that we can have the opportunity to provide a unique and enjoyable educational experience for your child. The information provided on this website is intended to help you (whether you are an existing or a prospective parent) understand our program, what you can expect from us, and what we will expect from you about your child's care and needs.
Early childhood education is the most important phase in a child's life, and the best results are produced when parents and teachers have common expectations and goals and make a concerted effort to further the child's educational progress. We invite you to learn more about Trinity Montessori by browsing our website and clicking the image below to watch our video.
Trinity Montessori School is a private independent Montessori school located in the heart of Markham, Ontario near the intersection of 16th Avenue and Woodbine Avenue, just 2 km east of Highway 404. Since 1999, our school has nurtured strong, independent, and capable children who have gone on to excel in other educational institutions.
Our curriculum is based on the developmental stage of the child from infancy through 6th grade. This carefully developed method of education uses unique hands-on materials that encourage a concrete understanding of abstract principles. In multi-age classrooms, Montessori teachers guide the natural curiosity of children to foster academic success and a lifelong love of learning. The school is a community that develops in its children self-esteem and self-discipline, independence, and respect for and cooperation with fellow individuals.
Trinity Montessori School's motto is reflective of our philosophy that with proper nurturing and guidance, each of our students will blossom into a unique, strong, and beautiful individual who is capable and strongly rooted in academics.
Trinity Montessori School strives to recognize and respect the uniqueness of every child and to help each child reach his or her highest potential. Our school adopts a holistic approach to education within a caring and nurturing environment, with particular emphasis on academic excellence, emotional maturity, mental and physical well-being, and moral and spiritual soundness. We aim to develop our students into persons of character and integrity, who would become respected and contributing members of society. Trinity Montessori School is a private school focused on achieving student success. The school is not intended to, nor does it, serve all students equally well.
The Montessori approach offers a broad vision of education as an aid to life and aims to help children with their task of finding and developing the individual within as they grow from childhood to maturity. This approach is effective because it draws its principles from the natural development of the child and its inherent flexibility allows the method to adapt to the particular needs of the individual, regardless of the level of ability, learning style, or social maturity.
A Montessori classroom is a carefully designed and prepared space that offers the children an environment in which they are free to respond to their natural drive to work and learn. The children’s innate love of learning is encouraged by giving them opportunities and resources to engage in spontaneous, meaningful activities under the guidance of a Montessori teacher. Through their work, the children develop concentration, motivation, persistence, and discipline, which qualities will help the children to succeed in future schooling and careers.
Our toddler program provides a loving environment that is carefully prepared to meet the unique needs of children between the ages of 18 months to 2.5 years of age. Our classroom accommodates 15 students and has a 1:5 teacher-student ratio. The program is a natural extension from home and allows for each child to reach his or her full potential. The nurturing and secure environment fosters independence, language, and creativity.
The Practical Life area is designed to fit the toddler's hand. It invites hand-eye coordination and assists with fine motor skills. It also helps promote independence and concentration. In the Sensorial area children will learn about dimensions, shapes, and colors, tactile and auditory senses through attractive and age-appropriate material. The Language material encourages conversation, builds vocabulary, and provides a sense of the world around them. Music and circle time is also important to language development.
The Math area introduces number recognition through various materials. Number blocks, puzzles, sorting, and counting are all concepts taught in this area. The gross motor area is specifically designed to allow children to explore and develop coordination and balance. The child-sized gym, a sand and water table, balancing beams, balls, and other motor equipment are all important to developing their large motor skills.
Trinity Montessori School moved the Elementary program into our second building at 9221 Woodbine Ave., adjacent to our main campus, in 2007. This lovely heritage-style building has been updated to ensure our students have a delightful and inspiring class space. Our elementary teaching staff guides their blossoming minds, using their expertise as either Montessori-trained teachers or as Ontario certified teachers. Most of our elementary students have been at Trinity Montessori School since their days in the Casa program. However, we do accept a student without a Montessori background and can discuss arrangements with parents.
