Abdul Rahman Kanoo International School (ARKIS) is a co-educational and bilingual school in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Currently, more than 2200 students are enrolled at ARKIS. Abdul Rahman Kanoo International School is the 1st school in Bahrain to receive joint accreditation from CIS (Council of International School) and NEASC (New England Association of Schools and Colleges).
ARKIS is a certified Cambridge International (CIE) Centre. The Cambridge International Primary Programme (CIPP) is implemented in Preschool and Elementary School along with the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), followed by the Cambridge Lower Secondary Programme (CLSP) in the Middle School, the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) in Grades 9 and 10. In Grades 11 and 12, students opt either for IB (International Baccalaureate) Diploma Programme (IBDP) or the Advanced Subsidiary (AS). In addition to the above programs, the Universal Concept of Mental Arithmetic System (UCMAS), a brain development program, is implemented from KG1 to Grade 8. The school implements subjects endorsed by the Ministry of Education i.e., Islamic, Social Studies, and Citizenship. ARKIS has an established Arabic Second Language department (ASL) for assisting students who are non-native speakers from Grade 1.
One of the significant characteristics that distinguish ARKIS is the belief in contributing positively to the development of the local and international community. Hence, the school is actively involved in serving the community both at the national and international levels. It distinguished extra-curricular programs that focus on the development of the “whole student” and the creation of responsible, empathetic, and active citizens who are involved in their communities.
Elementary School is a continuation of the children’s development in Pre-school. Our focus here is to develop the “whole child,” a knowledgeable child, emotionally and physically healthy, civically inspired, and prepared for the world beyond formal schooling. This is achieved through the curriculum we teach, and the co-curricular activities school carried out throughout the year.
The International Primary Program (IPC) Early Years is introduced at the Nursery level and continues until Grade 3. It is a thematic program that gives our curriculum a taste of coherency and integration between subjects. IPC is based on clearly-defined learning goals. Planned activities and experiences have been designed to cover four strands Independence and Interdependence, Communicating, exploring, and Healthy living.
