  1. Visitors to Hodge Hill are immediately impressed by the warm welcome that they receive from the children and staff. The children are friendly, inquisitive, engaging, and very proud of their school. We are building Create by focusing on trusting relationships as the root of all our work. We have high expectations of everyone and we are never complacent - constantly striving to improve on our previous best. We are creating futures for everyone - our staff, our families and communities, and, of course, our children. We are also very committed to developing our high-quality staff and leaders who work hard individually and in their teams. The Trust supports their skills development and helps them to identify a career path so that they can be even more effective in ensuring that the children make the best progress personally, academically, and socially. Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning and provide an environment that prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens. Hodge Hill Primary aims to provide a creative and challenging curriculum that inspires future thinkers, innovators, and problem-solvers in an immersive environment that stimulates and supports high-quality learning. We aim to teach children how to grow into positive, responsible people, who can work and co-operate with others while developing the drive, knowledge, and skills to become life-long learners. In line with the changes in the New Primary Curriculum, we have developed an innovative curriculum to capture children’s enthusiasm and generate excitement about learning. We will be continuing to work upon our school curriculum to make sure that it is up to date, reflects the views and the ever-changing needs of our children, so that they develop a sound and rigorous grounding in basic skills of maths, English, computing, and science whilst increasing their knowledge and understanding of the wider world around them. To ensure the children follow a broad and balanced curriculum we follow the Primary Curriculum for the statutory Primary school subjects English, maths, science, computing, physical education, history, geography, music, art, design and technology, and foreign languages. We also follow the guidance given by the Department for Education and Local Authority, which we adapt to meet the needs of our children, to teach Religious Education, Personal, Social and Health Education. This includes relationship and growth, anti-bullying and extremism, e-safety, and drug and alcohol education.
  2. As a small school with strong community values, we know and care for every pupil as an individual. All local pupils are welcome in this school. We do not have a selection process and we strive to meet the needs of each member of our school community, celebrating diversity and always striving for equality in our school family and the wider world. Our ethos encourages mutual respect and support to enable every pupil to make the greatest personal, social and academic progress during their time with us, preparing them for successful careers and fulfilling lives. A relentless drive for the best academic progress for each pupil sits comfortably alongside the wider curriculum where values education embraces citizenship, pupil voice, charity, and community work. This term we are developing new partnerships with a local care home for the elderly and Trident Reach the People Charity alongside well-established links like the Stechford Food Bank. Charity work raises over £6000 every year. A pupil pilot group has started planning our route through the UNICEF Rights, Respecting Responsibilities Mark and Hodge Hill Girls’ School Thinktank are ready to begin their work. In academic studies, there are personalized pathways in learning to meet the needs of individuals and groups of pupils. Lessons use a blend of modern technology, traditional teaching, and individual support in every area of the curriculum. We understand from our self-evaluation that differentiation and challenge in lessons are of paramount importance to rates of individual pupil progress. The quality of marking, feedback, pupil response, and homework support the pace of learning – these areas have been and continue to be areas of focus for the school. Here at Hodge Hill Girls' School, we genuinely value and strive to enhance working partnerships with our families, feeder schools, and our local community. This partnership is essential in raising standards and achievement, every member of our family has a role to play in raising the aspirations of all our pupils to ensure we are "Educating Tomorrow's Women Today". Our aim is Pupils, Families, Staff, and Governors working together in consultation to help every pupil make expected progress, to help many pupils make better than expected progress, and to help some pupils to make exceptional progress by: Ensuring pupils attend for a minimum of 96% and are not late. Rewarding personal endeavor and community commitment. Helping pupils overcome challenges in their work and behavior. Supporting physical health and emotional resilience. Developing teaching and curriculum for high-quality learning. Developing the site, building, and resources for best value 21st-century learning. Education should help pupils respond to the opportunities and challenges of the rapidly changing world in which we live and work. In particular, they need to be prepared as individual citizens, to respond to the changing pattern of work and leisure, the expansion of communication systems, and the increasingly global nature of our world. In this context, we have developed a balanced curriculum framework that allows a flexible but coherent approach to study for all pupils. We are committed to raising the achievements, attainments, and aspirations of everyone in our school community and address equal opportunities by carefully considering the diverse needs of our young women about ability and cultural background. The core purpose of Secondary Education is to enable young people to learn and achieve. We work with determination to ensure that literacy, numeracy, Information Communication Technology, and thinking skills progress from Primary School and are integrated into the basic skills curriculum for all pupils. Curriculum extension and enrichment are key elements of the opportunities offered within the day, as an integrated part of our Curriculum and Achievement Days and in Out of Hours Clubs and Teams. We have high expectations for our pupils, which are communicated through our monitoring and target-setting processes. Regular individual and group reviews and assessments provide information regarding progress and help us to review together what is learned and taught, and provide intervention should this be necessary. Pupil progress is reviewed regularly throughout the academic year. View full school

  4. Hodge Hill College is an 11-16 co-educational school serving a wide area to the north and east of Birmingham. It is an 8 form entry school with 1200 pupils on roll. The school serves a rich and diverse area with pupils coming from some 37 different feeder schools. During the last four years, we have been working hard to transform our learning environment and our outcomes for pupils. At Hodge Hill College we believe that all our pupils can achieve if they have confidence, a clear focus, and actively participate in learning. British Values: of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance permeates college life, underpins our curriculum delivery, and supports the high expectations we set our pupils. We have traveled a great distance as a college during the last three years. We are a ‘good school’, with good results, but want even more for our pupils. That’s why our focus is on pupil self-management and independent learning. Without these skills, our pupils will not reach outstanding outcomes. Our ethos drives our personal and community development. Our focus is to develop pupil confidence, aspiration, self-management, and hard work which enables all our pupils to Dream, Believe, Achieve. Our pupils need high aspirations for their careers and working adult life to provide focus and direction. Our pupils need the confidence for self-belief, the ability to try and sometimes fail, but through that failure learn, developing wisdom and maturity. By taking that leap of faith, through self-belief we achieve our goals. Hard work, focus, determination and the right attitudes to learning help us overcome obstacles and achieve all our life goals. Our college CARE brand: Courtesy, Aspiration, Respect, and Empathy is embedded in the daily lives of our pupils. It helps them to develop maturity, character, and resilience. British values are an intrinsic part of college life delivered through the college ethos and in particular through our Care brand. They also underpin our assemblies, thought for the day, and college displays. A large number of projects have been undertaken by different year groups to explore the theme and communicate it to the whole college population. Also, external agencies have been invited to provide training on INSET days to ensure that staff is fully aware of what they should be promoting. Our state-of-the-art facilities ensure that pupils get the best possible opportunities to succeed. Success comes with continued partnership working with parents and families to ensure that all pupils fulfill their potential. The curriculum at Hodge Hill College aims to provide breadth and balance for all pupils at both key stage 3 and key stage 4. Pupils all undertake studies in the core subjects: English, mathematics, and science, together with humanities, language, arts, creative, design, and sports-based subjects. This is maintained at key stage four to ensure that pupils gain a balance of qualifications which will provide them with the widest possible opportunities for progression into the sixth form. This breadth also offers diverse opportunities for university, apprenticeship, and employment choices. Balance ensures doors are held open at all times to all pupils. As a college, we are committed to ensuring that pupils gain an understanding of the contribution the arts play to enriching their lives, and the key part they play in the national and global economy. Learning to contextualize our common history, geography, and religious beliefs build greater understanding, character, and stronger communities. Finally, healthy bodies support healthy minds and as a college, we believe, all our pupils need to understand how these two issues are intertwined. Enabling all pupils to take charge of their health secures good learning and future economic security for our community. View full school

  6. At Hobbayne Primary School and Nursery we offer a safe, healthy and stimulating environment where children's self-esteem, happiness, and enjoyment of school are valued equally alongside our commitment to educating the whole child. We have a forward-thinking team of staff, an active PTA, and a supportive Governing Body. We work to ensure that children benefit from a wide range of opportunities to excel across the curriculum and beyond it. You are also very welcome to visit us and experience our warm, inclusive, multi-cultural atmosphere for yourself. All pupils at school have access to our e-school, which is provided by a company called Fronter. Pupils have access to various rooms, just as they do in a school building. All content is protected by a login and password. Children can communicate with each other and staff, can respond to forums and discussions, consolidate, develop and extend their learning, and hand in homework. All pupils from Nursery to Year 6 have rooms they can access with resources to support learning. We have a policy on trips to guide teachers and parents on issues and practices of Health and Safety on trips and visits. These are available for all to read in the Policy Document folder, which is kept in the school office. From time to time parents volunteer to transport children in the Junior Department to sporting venues and events in their vehicles. Parents transporting children are asked to complete a short questionnaire about their vehicle and associated documents. These questionnaires are updated annually. There is a two-night, three-day residential in Year 5 to Sayers Croft in Guildford, Surrey. In March/April, Year 6 visit the PGL center near Paris, in France for five days and four nights. Parents can help on trips. Please contact the school office if you'd like to and put your name down on the volunteer list. We send out a standard trip letter that contains lots of information. We recognize the importance of keeping our trips and costs transparent to our community. View full school

  8. Our vision is to create a school community where everyone feels valued, has the opportunity to explore, develop their strengths, and participate in new experiences. Our aim is to an inspirational school creating good people in an atmosphere that promotes confidence, high academic achievement, physical health, and emotional well-being. We believe education is a partnership between the school, the child, and their family. Hitherfield has served the local area since the 19th Century and continues to do so with our modern, well-resourced school buildings in stunning grounds including three playgrounds, a field, trim trail, nature area, edible playground, and a ball court. Our pupils make outstanding progress academically, physically, and socially, consistently above national progress averages. We are a ‘Lead Food Flagship School for Lambeth’ and share our food growing and healthy lifestyle expertise with other schools. We have won many awards and recognition including the Inclusion Quality and Arts Marks, and our pupils have won local and national competitions: the London-wide Robo-Challenge local Athletics Championships local football leagues, as well as being finalists in the national Microsoft Kodu cup for digital game design. At Hitherfield School we have high expectations of all our children, encouraging them always to do their best regardless of their gender, ethnicity, additional needs, or beliefs. We teach our children about the British Values - Democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith. We do this in a variety of ways, including modeling democracy (for example pupil elections, General Elections, trips to the Houses of Parliament), through assemblies, and our inclusive curriculum. We are committed to educating holistically, focusing on the social, moral, creative, and artistic as well as the academic. We have worked hard to build a school community with positive relationships based upon mutual respect and support. We are proud of the cultural diversity that makes up our school community, seeing it as a strength that we should celebrate. We help children see the importance of taking responsibility for themselves, their actions, and their learning. Ultimately, this encourages them to become independent learners and active members of society All Lambeth maintained schools have a similar approach to meeting the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and are supported by the Local Authority to ensure that all pupils, regardless of their specific needs, make the best possible progress in school. All schools are supported to be as inclusive as possible, with the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and or Disabilities being met in a mainstream setting wherever possible, where families want this to happen. Pupils with Special Educational Needs and or Disabilities will take part in the activities of the school together with pupils without Special Educational Needs and or Disabilities whenever possible. 10. Hillyfield is a seven-form entry school for children aged 2 to 11 years old at present there are 1200 children on roll and the school will continue to grow over the next three years to reach its full capacity of 1600 children. The school is split over two sites: Hollyfield on the Hill and Hillyfield at the Park. One of our core values is “Creating a sense of belonging”. We ensure that every child is known and loved as an individual and cared for from the moment they enter the school gates. Our vision for our pupils is clear. We believe that every child who attends our school has their brilliance and it is our responsibility and privilege to enable them to find and develop their talent. We believe that every child will be academically equipped to succeed at Hillyfield, secondary school, and beyond. At Hillyfield, we take pride in giving our children a transformative education. The school and its community are united by the desire to nurture young people who will go on to make positive contributions and lead happy lives. High expectations in learning, behavior, and respect for each other underpin everything we do. Our rich and varied curriculum enables the children at Hillyfield to access memorable and life-changing opportunities. Our talented staff members strive to create independent, articulate thinkers and learners who have the confidence to achieve their ambitions this drives us to aim for excellence every day. Our school is built on the belief that every child has brilliance, something about them which is special and unique. Working with parents, it is our responsibility as a school to make sure each child’s brilliance is nurtured and developed so that every child feels valued and successful. The children understand that “brilliance” can take many forms: we have children at Hillyfield who are linguists, great writers, exciting performers, talented athletes, exceptionally empathetic, innovators, devoted friends…the list goes on. We want Hillyfield children to leave our school as confident readers, writers, and mathematicians. But through the broad and rich curriculum, we offer them, access to specialist teachers and through the use of the Habits of Mind, we also want children to be able to articulate what their brilliance is and be proud of themselves. At Hillyfield, we believe that this isn’t achieved by accident. We know that we must dedicate ourselves to this every day and that staff, children, and parents alike must strive for excellence so that each child can fulfill their full potential. View full school

  12. Hillwood Primary School was opened in December 1975 and is a non-denominational primary school for children who live in Ratho Station and the surrounding areas of Clifton, Gogarburn, Ingliston, Lochend, Newbridge, and Norton. The building is of a semi-open-plan design with spacious teaching areas, both of which are carpeted to help keep noise levels to a minimum. In the Primary 1-3 area a tiled wet bay ensures that there are suitable facilities to enjoy arts, crafts, and messy play. Children in the Primary 4/5 and 6/7 areas enjoy the use of their wet bays. We also have a new and well-stocked library. Situated in the central area of the school are a drama and dance studio and a kitchen. During lunchtime, the dance and drama studio is used as a dining area. There is also a stage. The playground is fenced off from the road and includes two asphalted hard areas and a grassed play area, which can be used as a football pitch. It also has an attractive activity area where the children can play safely, supervised by Pupil Support Assistants. P1/2 have their playground and can choose whether they play there or in the main playground. There is a Pupil Support Assistant in each playground and buddies help to support safe and happy play. Our Early Years Hub opened in April 2013 and is a joint venture with Queensferry Early Years Centre. The Hub offers a variety of activities for children under 3 as well as sessions for parents. Hillwood is a fantastic place to learn and work. As a former P7 pupil said we are “A small school with a big heart!” Our school community is proud of this statement and lives up to it daily. At Hillwood, we work hard with our parents, pupils, and staff to create a warm and welcoming environment where pupils can learn and grow. To enable all pupils to achieve their full potential through the highest quality of education in partnership with pupils, staff, and parents. We will try to achieve this through the following School Aims: Create a caring and secure environment in which every child and staff member feels happy, confident, and valued. Offer a curriculum that provides the best learning opportunities for each child and allows him/her to develop and perform at the highest level. Promote independent learning in an environment where the children are encouraged to take appropriate responsibility for their work. Encourage co-operation between families and school to enhance each child’s learning. Foster close partnerships among the school, the home, and the local community. Continue the development of the school building and playground as a stimulating and enjoyable resource for learning. Develop the skills and professionalism of all staff members At Hillwood, we value our community and our place within it. We celebrate achievement in all forms both in school and out and work hard to ensure our pupils get the best possible start in their educational career. At Hillwood, we work hard with our parents, pupils, and staff to create a warm and welcoming environment where pupils can learn and grow. Parental involvement is very important as we know it helps children to achieve their full potential in school. We wish to encourage a partnership with you to ensure the best possible standards of pupil behavior. We promote positive behavior and all children are aware of school rules and what to do if they spot something that doesn’t seem right. Occasionally, children can struggle to follow school rules and when this happens we work hard with the family to resolve the situation and achieve the best possible outcome for the child. At Hilldene Primary School we recognize that all pupils are entitled to have access to a broad range of learning experiences that allow them to develop the knowledge, understanding, skills, and attitudes necessary to prepare them for and to help them succeed as members of the wider community. The curriculum aims to provide opportunities for all pupils to learn and to achieve, irrespective of social background, culture, race, gender, differences in ability, and disabilities. We believe in a philosophy of equity for all rather than equality. We aim to provide skills of literacy, numeracy, communication, and technology, helping them to develop enquiring minds and the ability to think rationally. The curriculum also promotes pupils' spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development and supports them in developing principles for distinguishing between right and wrong. Pupils are encouraged to think creatively and critically and to respect others and the environments in which they live. The curriculum enables pupils to develop their physical skills and promotes their personal and social well-being.
