Together with the European Union (EU), the University offers the Master's Program in Human Rights and Democratization in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The Campus is built around former railway lines and train repair shop buildings. It has become a privileged space for teaching, research, cultural development, and social interaction among members of UNSAM's community. It has developed strong, research-led partnerships with a range of leading universities globally: UNSAM has signed nearly 400 international agreements, which have resulted in various research projects, as well as students and teachers' exchange programs. The University is continuously open to new partnerships based on academic exchanges, teaching, joint research projects, special programs, and innovation with universities and institutions.
In 2001, UNSAM started to restore the existing buildings and to set up new ones. With a strong commitment and a tremendous innovative capacity, Campus Miguelete has become one of Argentina's most exciting educational and research habitats. At present, the Miguelete Campus has 16 hectares and more than a dozen buildings. All of them stand out for its originality, and many have won significant architectural prizes. The Campus has become the home to an educational community that brings together students, teachers, researchers, and artists with a joint project: the National University of San Martín.
UNSAM has an active policy of internationalization, integral, and inclusive. We developed strong, research-led partnerships with a range of leading universities in the world. The University has signed more than 300 international agreements, from which have emerged or consolidated projects of investigation and various programs in students and teachers exchange, joint cathedrals, joint degrees, and fellowships. The University is continuously open for new partnerships based on academic and student exchanges, teaching, joint research, special programs, and innovation with leading universities and institutions.
Despite being a young institution with only 25 years of experience, since its origins, the National University of San Martín (UNSAM) has built bridges with prestigious public agencies of science and technology to contribute to the development of R&D&I and great innovation campus. More than 400 researchers and 340 scholarship holders carry out their scientific and technological activities in the Miguelete Campus and the other venues the University has in Buenos Aires City, San Martín, Ezeiza, and Chascomús.
The University has more than 50,000 square meters of offices and laboratories with first-class equipment where students, professors, entrepreneurs, scientists, technical personnel, and service staff coexist in a stimulating atmosphere to develop creative capabilities and the diverse expressions of talent. UNSAM is also part of a technology park in Buenos Aires Province (Polo Tecnológico Constituyentes) and has forged alliances with the most important research institutions in the country: the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET), the National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA), the National Commission for Space Activities (CONAE), the National Institute of Industrial Technology (INTI) and the National Agricultural Technology Institute (INTA).
Located in a strategic area, the Campus Miguelete is a free space for local development and cooperation between the public and private sectors. Most of San Martin's population belongs to middle-low class sectors. In that context, the University's goal is to support regional and national development to strengthen the community needs through our Reach Out Program.
Each year many University students, faculty, University staff, and residents participate together in a wide range of volunteer and service programs that cover many different areas, such as Gender, Childhood, Disability, Environmental Issues, Popular Economy, and Literacy, among others. At the same time, it is remarkable that, since 2008, UNSAM has created the University Center in San Martin Penitentiary, where inmates and the penitentiary service attend classes of BA in Sociology and participate in professional computer and baking workshops. There are currently 165 students taking different courses at CUSAM.
