The British International School, Al Khobar (BISAK) has been providing the very best education for the wider community of Al Khobar since 1977. The school moved to its current site in 1998 where the school has continued to grow and develop with the support of our community and the British Embassy. We are a not for profit school so all our resources are used to support our pupils learning.
Our school motto, “Let there be peace on earth” symbolizes what we expect from all members of our school. We are a community and a family. This ideal impacts every element of our academic and personal lives.
We expect everyone in our school to make the most of their opportunities, to learn something new each day, and to reflect upon their experiences. We expect our pupils to work hard and always try their very best at everything that they do. We will assist them, by providing them with the best possible learning environment and outstanding teaching, in an atmosphere of order, discipline, and care.
In June 2017, our British School Overseas (BSO) inspection led by PENTA International stated that “Pupils feel secure and valued within the friendly mutually trustful learning environment that prevails throughout the school. The pupils, parents, and staff are highly committed to the school and feel valued and appreciated.”
In April 2015, the Council of International Schools (CIS) conducted its 5-year Inspection of the school. The Visitors noted the following: “The hard-working and courteous students, who demonstrate excitement about their learning and are eager to share it with others”
The British International School Al Khobar is an educational community that provides diverse and challenging learning experiences. BISAK follows the English National Curriculum and delivers IGCSE, GCSE, and A-Level examinations at the end of KS4 and KS5. The school endeavors to motivate students to develop the belief that they can succeed. The school aims, through its international environment, to inspire everyone to be positive global citizens by reflecting upon equality, community service, and peace. All are welcomed and valued as unique individuals.
We are very proud of our high-quality teaching and learning that is delivered through a broad and balanced curriculum. In Nursery and Reception we use the Early Years Framework and in Years 1-6, we deliver the English National Curriculum via a cross-curricular framework using themes led by different subject programs of study namely history, geography, and science. This creative approach to the curriculum encourages pupils to follow their lines of inquiry, stimulate curiosity and promote both personalized learning and international-mindedness. We embrace and nurture learning as a focal point and we aim to instill a love of learning which will remain with the children throughout their lives. We believe all children can succeed in their learning that they are all entitled to high academic excellence, learning within a culture that recognizes each individual’s abilities and which enables all to achieve to their full potential and have a sense of worth.
BISAK is organized according to the English and Welsh Education system whereby Secondary is divided into Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. Key Stage 3, which covers Years 7-9 and follows the National Curriculum for England and Wales. Key Stage 4, which covers Years 10 and 11 follows either GCSE or IGCSE courses with examinations after a 2-year course. Key Stage 5, which covers Years 12 and 13 and follows the AS Level course in Year 12 and the A2 Level course in Year 13.
The British International School Al Khobar is an educational community that provides diverse and challenging learning experiences. We understand and appreciate that children learn in a multitude of different ways and that, as within an international school, there will be children from a wide variety of backgrounds who bring with them a wealth of different strengths, experiences, and interests.
We have high expectations of our students, motivating and encouraging them to achieve their own goals and dreams. We want all of our students to be resilient, independent, and responsible learners by the time they leave us, ready to tackle the challenges of the workplace or higher levels of study at University.
BISAK Sixth Form offers students a wide range of A-level subjects taught by a highly qualified, motivated staff and the School is extremely proud of its history of excellent A-level results. Our Enrichment program provides structured support in terms of university applications, career guidance, and preparation for university life. Significant emphasis is placed on developing independent, confident students with strong leadership and communication skills. All students are expected to volunteer their services around school and are encouraged to become involved in a wide range of extra-curricular activities, including business club, MUN, and sports teams.
