The Italian Bilingual School has been established in 2002 and provides a unique approach to teaching and learning by offering a bilingual aspect that has combined elements of both the Australian and the Italian curriculum to provide a program of study which targets the needs of our students. Our school is a primary school that currently caters to children from Prep class (under 5 years old) through to Year 6.

Our Vision Statement is clear, "Excellence through Bilingualism" and we value excellence in literacy and numeracy teaching explicit teaching of thinking skills and social skills providing a holistic, safe, and caring learning environment, and valuing and welcoming the involvement of parents and the wider community.

The bilingual aspect of the school has always been its most distinctive feature and by offering this type of education we strive to provide a service that, although still unusual in our Australian context, is common and successful in Europe, Canada, and elsewhere. Some of the benefits include adding to communicative and intellectual skills and laying the foundation for successful learning of further languages later in life.

Learning another language or learning through another language, gives students a level of second language skill not achievable through a regular school program. In particular, a bilingual education offers a deep understanding of another way of being the possibility of unconditional respect for 'other' which we believe is the basis for true global citizenship.

The Italian Bilingual School aims to provide an environment in which young people can grow towards being citizens who have access within themselves to the concepts, skills, attitudes, and knowledge to act positively and productively in the world for the equal benefit of themselves, others, and our environment.
