On the site of a former thread factory and easily accessible by public transport, SIS Zürich offers an exceptional infrastructure for all education levels. Over twenty spacious classrooms, a variety of special subject rooms for arts, music, crafts, and woodwork, a gym, and a library are to be found under one roof in the school building. A cafeteria and the popular roof terrace offer recreational space for personal development and stories – be it in German or English.
SIS Zürich launched its bilingual college in August 2005. In the summer of 2012, we moved to the new school building at Seidenstrasse in Wallisellen. Today, we offer all educational levels from kindergarten to primary school, advanced secondary school, and college.
Bilingualism is experienced both in class and day-to-day school life on all educational levels. The two school languages, German and English, act as a bridge connecting the diverse nationalities and cultures represented under our roof.
SIS Zürich is an officially designated bilingual Swiss Gymnasium. Students can graduate both with the Swiss Matura and the International Baccalaureate (IB).
Our modern, bright school building with modern classrooms, its gym, playground, and rooftop terrace appeals to all educational levels.
Joint events and projects involving all age levels strengthen the diverse school community. A personal learning environment, an appreciative attitude, and a positive approach towards performance are what makes our school unique.
Despite its size, SIS Zürich is a personal school with high-quality before and after school care where important skills and attitudes are imparted to children, adolescents, and young adults to help them find their way in a globalized world.
Find out everything you need to know about the education levels on offer at SIS: preschool, primary school, secondary school, and college, culminating in the Swiss bilingual Matura and/or the International Baccalaureate (IB). Learn more about the continuous education from kindergarten through to secondary and college level at SIS – one of the major advantages of our bilingual educational concept.
SIS Swiss International School Zürich provides a complete education from preschool through to secondary school and college. On all levels, subjects are taught in German and English. Bilingualism, however, is not a requirement for entry at any level.
“The sooner, the better.” When it comes to learning a language, this statement is irrefutable. In preschool, children are at an age when their language is particularly susceptible to outside influences. This is why it is important for them not only to practice the second language but also to use it naturally to engage with the world. As a result, kindergarten will prove to be a varied and exciting time for both children and parents.
Our bilingual Kindergarten offers a well-supervised, safe, and stimulating learning environment for children aged four to six. SIS has developed its curriculum for children in this age group, comprising six areas of learning and discovery. Our Kindergarten is the ideal preparation for the transition into bilingual SIS Primary School.
At our bilingual Primary School, teaching is based on the curriculum of the respective canton. This state curriculum is supplemented by elements of international educational practice as well as by pedagogical standards developed by SIS. By attending our Primary School, children are ideally prepared for the transition into our Bilingual College. Students can transfer from and into the public school system at any time.
Following primary school, SIS Zürich offers a three-year advanced secondary school program generally known as progymnasiale Sekundarschule. Since the curriculum is similar to the one used at the college level and classes are largely taught by college teachers, it offers students an ideal preparation for continuing their education in the four-year college program.
At SIS secondary level, English and German are equally important, both as languages of instruction and in other parts of day-to-day school life. However, unlike in primary school, each subject is generally taught exclusively in one language.
At the college level, SIS Zürich offers two attractive options to students: the Bilingual College and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. With the Swiss Matura or the IB Diploma, there is no limit to the educational opportunities available to our students.
As a school, we are committed to doing everything we can to support children as they are growing up and to provide a valuable complement to their family life. This includes lunchtime meal offers, homework supervision, flexible drop-off and pick-up times, as well as exciting activities, even during school holidays.
SIS Swiss International School Zürich is a day school. Including our optional before and after school care, the school day runs from 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. It is important to us that students of all age groups feel happy and comfortable at our school, which is why we offer a range of services to cater to our students’ various needs.
