EduCativ
Our school was founded in 2004 and has been an IB World School since 2008. We now have 200 students in our school from grade 1 to grade 10 (6-16 years). This has been an International Baccalaureate World School since 2008. The Mission of the International Baccalaureate is at the heart of our School Program of Inquiry. The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end, the organization works with schools, governments, and international organizations to develop challenging Programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These Programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right. The IB Program of Inquiry that is fully implemented in our school provides a balanced educational program with academic rigor, a nurturing social and emotional school climate, and opportunities for cultural expression and physical development. Our primary language of instruction is English and Norwegian is taught as a core subject at all year levels. Fluency in both languages is a requirement of our graduates. As a school caring for 200 students, a warm family-like atmosphere embraces student learning through a truly international curriculum. Our school is offering the International Baccalaureate Primary Years 1-6 and the Middle Years 7-10 educational programs to students of Norwegian and International Citizenship. Our staff represents over 20 nationalities and our student body includes over 38 nationalities. The IB Learner Profile teaches them life skills and attitudes that enable students to successfully collaborate with others, to appreciate and value diversity in ideas, people and culture, and to express a passion for life as 21st Century learners! Our school is a publicly funded Norwegian independent school (friskole). It operates according to the Independent School Act (Friskoleloven). 85 percent of tuition is state-funded and 15 percent is derived from student tuition. A professional foundation Board of Directors governs the school. Our graduates have the option to apply to the IB Diploma Program for Years 11-12 offered by the Trondheim Katedralskole, to complete the range of IB academic programs. The school adjoins the beautiful Kristiansten Festning (Fortress) and its abundant parkland where students engage in PE and outdoor activities, and students can explore the outdoors during both the summer and winter seasons. The school overlooks the beautiful fjord, surrounding mountain ranges, and the central town area including the magnificent Nidaros Cathedral and the colorful buildings and houses lining the edge of the Nidelven River. The school is minutes from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and the many cultural and academic resources of Trondheim Kommune. In 2014, our school celebrated being 10 years new! We are very focused on continuously improving an already excellent IB Educational Program.
