Sir Ellis Kadoorie Secondary School (West Kowloon)

Our school was first established at a site in Sai Ying Poon through the generosity of the Kadoorie Family in the 1890s. The Hong Kong Government assumed the school management in 1916 and the school later moved to its old site at Eastern Hospital Road. For many years, it was operated as a primary school until the 1960s with the introduction of secondary classes. It has remained a government co-educational secondary school ever since. At the beginning of the new millennium, the school has moved into its present site, a new and very well facilitated school building with the latest modern design, progressing onwards with strength and vitality into a new era ahead.
Appreciating the cultural diversity of the students and reflecting on the changing demands of the modern world, the school aims at the holistic development of all students to enable them to become lifelong learners and valuable members of the local and global community.
Our school was built according to the most the modern year 2000 (Y2K) design. There are 32 classrooms, 3 computer rooms, 5 laboratories, a music room, a visual arts room, a home management room, a needlework room, a library, a school hall, a mini-hall, an activity center, 3 multipurpose rooms, a covered playground, a canteen, a culture square, a volleyball court, 3 basketball courts, a staff room, a staff common room, a conference room, a STEM room, a social worker's office, a counseling room, a teaching resource center, a parents' resource center, some special rooms and plentiful open areas with special garden landscape design.
