Alexandria International School, Seoul was approved by the Egyptian Ministry of Education and the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate, England (UCLES) to offer International General Certificate of Secondary Education courses (IGCSE) to students of secondary school age in April 1997.

The Cambridge International Primary Program (CIPP) has been designed specifically for international schools, providing a solid foundation in Mathematics, English, and Science. It is not only relevant and useful to students all over the world but it also allows full flexibility for teachers to include resources that are relevant to their culture and local context, guiding curriculum development and classroom learning.
The new Cambridge Pre-IGCSE program offers an excellent balance between local and international education as students complete elements of the local curriculum such as Social Studies, Arabic, and Religious education, while also studying Mathematics, English, and the Sciences in preparation for IGCSE.
The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is the world's most popular international curriculum, designed to encourage high academic standards through a practical approach to teaching and learning. The IGCSE is administered by the University of Cambridge and its certificate is recognized by worldwide universities, academic institutions, and employers. It is also equivalent to the General Certificate of Secondary Education in Egypt (Thanaweya Amma).
This highly distinguished system of education provides a broad study program and covers subjects from a variety of areas: Languages, Humanities, Social Sciences, Mathematics, Creative, Technical, and Vocational Subjects. Most IGCSE subjects offer a choice of Core or Extended papers (in Cambridge), and foundation or higher papers (in Edexcel). This is designed to make IGCSE suitable for students with varying levels of ability.
Relying heavily on the practical application of learning, the important principle of this examination is that students are rewarded for positive achievement. They are encouraged to develop their oral and practical skills employ an investigative approach use problem-solving methods and benefit from the applications of skills, knowledge, and understanding.
The IGCSE offers a wider range of assessment techniques appropriate to different skills and attributes in various subjects. These techniques include oral and listening tests, practical, project work, performance, and coursework, as well as conventionally written examinations of various kinds.
