Perm State University was founded on 1st October 1916. Perm State University has been acting as a State Higher Educational Institution according to the legislation of Russia since 1917. Today, nearly one hundred years later, the University has a National Research University status and is one of the leading universities in Russia. Perm University Endowment fund was founded on 7th April to support and develop Perm State National Research University. This fund is the basis for sustainable financing of science and culture.

We have our own sports ground nearby, where track running and football are among the most popular sports in summer and cross-skiing in winter. Perm State University takes part in sport on an international level. It is part of the worldwide sporting movement and is a partner of the Universiade-2013.

Every student is free to choose any sport that he or she wants. In the University, there is a sports hall where students can play basketball, volleyball, badminton and partake in aerobics, athletics, and martial arts. There is a health center where students can recuperate between periods of study.
