Quality development of the University human resources: sufficient level of administrative, research and teaching staff qualification in all knowledge areas available at the University share of research and teaching staff holding academic degrees (including those awarded by foreign institutions and recognized in Russia) at the rate not less than 66% regular advanced training and professional retraining of research and teaching staff including internships at leading institutions in Russia and abroad participation of research and teaching staff in research (creative) projects in areas concerned, regular publication of results of research (creative) activity in leading national and international journals involvement to the educational process of highly qualified production specialists, the staff of research and projects organizations.

INRTU ranked sixth in the monitoring of innovation activities effectiveness in Russian universities. ITMO University, in partnership with the Russian Venture Company, analyzed innovation and entrepreneurial activity at 45 leading Russian universities. INR was reckoned among the best accelerators and business incubators of Russia in 2016 and took second place. Analytical company UBI Global, with the support of Russian Venture Company and National Research University Higher School of Economics, presented the list of Russia's best accelerators and business incubators. INRTU took 83rd place among Russian universities in the Academic Ranking of World Universities – European Standard made by European Research and Industrial Chamber. INRTU ranked 29th in the National Ranking of Russian Universities to estimate economic demand for Russian universities made under the project "Social Navigator" by the international information agency "Russia today." INRTU ranked 30th in the National Ranking of Universities by "Interfax" Group to participate in the "Echo Moskvy" radio station for 2015.

Present research infrastructure at INRTU comprises 49 research laboratories equipped according to the world standards worth more than 1.5 milliard roubles. Over the last five years, the University teachers and students have published more than 13 000 scientific papers, more than 5 000 contributions in journals approved by the Higher Attestation Commission (VAK) of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science. At present, four journals issued by INRTU are included in the VAK list. Now the University implements the program to index the University scientific journals in such databases as SCOPUS, AGRIS, Central and European Online Library (C. E. E. O. L.), Genamics, Academic Journals Database, Electronic Journals Library, Cambridge Science Abstracts (CSA), ERIH.

Deep University integration to industrial enterprises' economy allows it to offer scientific research, innovation developments, and engineering services demanded in the market. Nowadays, the University implements serious research applied projects with "Irkut" Corporation" Public Company, "Uzhuralzoloto" Company, LLC "Gaspromneft-Angara," United Company "RUSAL" and others. The total funding of the projects carried out by the University in cooperation with the most prominent Russian companies from 2010 to 2016 accounts for more than two milliard roubles. INRTU has attracted total investments to the regional economy for the last five years comprise more than 8.7 milliard roubles.
