Students living in a residence of the University College Ghent can always call the reception desk for medical assistance: addresses of doctors, dentists, etc. are available. In case you have health problems, you can always call the Students' Advisory Centre of Ghent University, where doctors run a practice for students. As experienced doctors, they are ideal for dealing with any medical or psychological problem you might have.
As health care is not free, each visit to the doctor must be paid for. If you have proper insurance, you can recover the costs, though some medical costs may be charged to the patient personally.
University College Ghent has eight libraries, one on each campus, with various services and content. There are two art libraries, one digital library, and five learning commons. Our libraries provide content, including all subject areas, according to the school's curriculum. You will find the services and resources you need to help you with learning, research, and scholarship.
An exchange student is a student who temporarily studies at University College Ghent for one semester or academic year but stays enrolled at the home institution. You can only be considered an exchange student if there is a valid bilateral agreement between your home university and University College Ghent. Exchange students are expected to receive credits to transfer to their degree studies at their home institution.
HoGent Great Student Representatives" could be the English interpretation of the abbreviation HGSR, though in reality, stands for "Hogeschool Gent Studentenraad." It is the official student council of University College Ghent.
Our university college has a long tradition of involving students, and the HGSR is one prominent example of it. Every committee has a delegate of the council, which makes the HGSR one of the most potent tools to sustain democracy and let the student's voice be heard.
