The Stockholm School of Economics opened its doors to its first students more than 100 years ago in 1909. The Stockholm School of Economics Association was established. The members were businessmen and prominent industrial leaders who took an active part in the development and gave considerable financial support. The Stockholm School of Economics Association has since then played a very central role in the development of the SSE to the foremost business and research institution in the country.

The activities of the Stockholm School of Economics rest upon a clear mission and vision. The objective of the Stockholm School of Economics is to, through scientific teaching and research, strengthen Sweden'sSweden's competitiveness. The SSE vision is to firmly establish itself as a member of the top tier of European business schools and be recognized as a global benchmark for industry collaboration and thought leadership in selected knowledge fields.
We are an international business school located in Sweden, offering a first-class, competitive education in business administration and economics on the bachelor and master level. We also provide highly regarded MBA, Ph.D., and executive education programs. SSE conducts internationally recognized research in economics, finance, business administration, and related disciplines. Many of our researchers are among the leading figures in their respective fields. Every year SSE works on several outreach initiatives spanning from a well-known business incubator to an acceleration program to integrate university graduates who recently arrived in Sweden.
SSE Business Lab is a wholly-owned non-profit subsidiary of SSE and offers its services without cost to SSE-associated entrepreneurs. SSE Business Lab is a natural part of SSE and a great launching pad for tomorrow'stomorrow's successful companies. The advisory board consists of experienced professionals specializing in different phases of starting and running a company, including moving from ideas to businesses.
With the generous support of the Global Challenges Foundation, the Stockholm School of Economics has launched a new track – Global Challenges. The course is included in the Bachelor program in Business and Economics. Our world is under strain – Sustainable development is the central global challenge of our time. We must understand how sustainable development can be achieved in practice, on the ground, in all parts of the world. A stable and broad education in business is no longer enough. Consequently, the Bachelor program in Business and Economics at the Stockholm School of Economics has been updated to include a new track called Global Challenges. One program – part of the BSc Business and Economics program will provide tools to understand the challenges that SSE graduates meet in their professional lives, forming tomorrow's leaders.
At SSE, we actively work for equal opportunities and increased diversity.
