The University of Alaska Southeast offers opportunities to grow and learn in a supportive and intimate learning community amidst unparalleled natural beauty. Cutting-edge undergraduate research makes the most of our spectacular setting in the Tongass National Forest.
No matter what career path you choose, UAS is designed to strengthen your problem-solving skills, enhance your ability to communicate effectively, and teach you how to work collaboratively – all things employers want.
Small class sizes ensure a rich educational experience with top-notch faculty who choose to live and work in a place where dramatic natural vistas inspire scientific and creative pursuits. Give yourself an advantage as a global-ready graduate by gaining a broader understanding of the world and yourself. Through the national and international study-away programs, hundreds of universities and site options are available to all eligible students for a semester or full year.
Students interested in studying away need to be willing to embrace the unknown, be flexible with change, and willing to try new things. Those who do are forever changed. Students return with more self-confidence and intellectual and social competencies, a grander appreciation of the world, and new skills and knowledge for professional success.
UAS academic advisors empower students to meet academic, life, and career goals through a personalized, collaborative, and reflective process. The advising partnership connects students to faculty, campus, and community resources, online and face-to-face.
At the University of Alaska Southeast, providing equal opportunities for students who experience disabilities is a campus-wide responsibility and commitment. We work together with faculty and students to identify individual needs and how to accommodate those needs best.
Academic services constitute an integral component of equalizing the post-secondary environment for students who experience disabilities. Disability Services (DS) is responsible for coordinating services for UAS students who experience disabilities. DS Also serves as a resource providing information to the campus community. DS Staff can provide further information about the services available.
When barriers do arise, Disability Services assist in the identification of reasonable adjustments. DS can provide details about services and accommodations that are available to qualified students with appropriate documentation.
Early planning is encouraged and necessary to allow DS staff adequate time to arrange for services. It is the student's responsibility to initiate contact with and provide the appropriate disability documentation to DS.
