A comprehensive college, Penn State Harrisburg, enrolls more than 5,000 students and offers more than 65 associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs and the first two years of study, leading to more than 160 majors offered throughout Penn State. The college serves students from all Penn State campuses and those from community colleges and other accredited institutions at the transfer level.

Each year, Penn State Harrisburg becomes the home of hundreds of international students from several dozen different countries. The Office of International Student Support Services (ISSS) houses the International Student Advisers. It provides support services for international students in matters relating to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) paperwork, social, and cultural issues.

Penn State Harrisburg offers two honors programs for highly motivated students to achieve academic excellence and wants more out of their college education. The two programs are the Capital College Honors Program and the University's Schreyer Honors College. Both programs provide students with special honors courses in various disciplines, supervised research opportunities, and support for international travel and study abroad. The Honors Programs aim to build a learning community that provides a unique learning experience for motivated students.
