    1889, as New Mexico School of Mines. The name changed in 1951 to the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. Located in the colorful and historic Rio Grande Valley, New Mexico Tech has a beautifully-landscaped green campus and an adjacent 18-hole championship golf course. New Mexico Tech aspires to be a preeminent community of scholars dedicated to research, education, and innovation – advancing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics – to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
