    With the first students admitted to then Edison Junior College in the fall of 1962, the college continues to provide students with the opportunity to fulfill their professional goals. On July 1, 2014, the college was renamed Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW). The college offers Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, and Baccalaureate degrees and various certificate programs. Please visit our Academics page to learn more about our programs.
    Lee County Campus renamed the Thomas Edison Campus in 2014, has 24 permanent structures, including the Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall.
    The Collier County Campus opened in March of 1992. The beautiful campus, which includes four state-of-the-art, energy- and environmentally-efficient buildings, is located on an 80-acre site near State Road 951 and Rattlesnake Hammock Road, in south Naples within Lely Resort. The Charlotte County Campus opened in 1997.
    Located on a wooded site on Airport Road in Punta Gorda, the campus features an observatory. FSW also provides services to students in Hendry and Glades counties on its Hendry/Glades Center located in LaBelle.
    Florida SouthWestern State College is governed by its District Board of Trustees composed of nine Charlotte, Collier, Hendry, Glades, and Lee counties. The members are appointed to four-year terms by the Governor of Florida.

    Florida SouthWestern State College offers a full range of credit classes that form the first two years of most college coursework. You may earn an associate’s degree, take courses that transfer to a four-year college or university, or enroll in our four-year programs that prepare you to enter the job market in high-employment fields.
    The Academic Support Centers exist to support all FSW students in achieving their academic goals. The Centers offer a variety of services and technologies for students, including tutoring, specialized software, multimedia programs, public computer access, testing preparation materials, developmental studies support, and more. Our programs and services are designed to give you the tools and information you need to succeed.
    Florida SouthWestern State College offers a wide array of Academic Programs which result in Credit. Florida SouthWestern State College also proudly sponsors Noncredit courses. Noncredit is a term indicating that Credit is not awarded. These courses are offered in various forms, such as continuing education, professional development, certification, and corporate training. The unit of measure is hours of instruction.
    Florida SouthWestern State College’s Honors Scholar Program offers students an enriched and challenging educational experience that extends learning beyond the classroom. We strive to cultivate academic excellence, skillful leadership, and commitment to social responsibility. As a rigorous, transdisciplinary program, we inspire students to seek transformative experiences and participate in the world in new ways.
    Work-Study Program federally funded program provides part-time employment for students with demonstrated financial need. Part-time employment is available to many students but is not processed automatically. Jobs available are on-campus, maximum of 20 hours per week, with an hourly rate of $8.30 per hour.
    In support of the Office of Academic Affairs and partnership with the Professional Development Committees and college leadership, our mission is to analyze, support, create, and implement professional development opportunities for faculty and staff through The Teaching and Learning Center.
