Imagine a big family—one that's warm, welcoming, smart, and fun. California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) is a four-year, public university in Camarillo, California. Established in 2002, we are the youngest of 23 campuses in the CSU family.

While our name suggests, we are surrounded by water, relax. You will not need a ferry to get here. Camarillo is midway between Santa Barbara and Los Angeles and just 25 miles from Malibu. CSUCI is nestled against the Santa Monica Mountain's foothills—and close to the Pacific Ocean and the Pacific Coast Highway.

At CSUCI, everything—and we mean everything—connects to our mission and "Four Pillars." Our mission statement boils down to this: No matter which of our academic programs you choose, you will be at the center of your educational experience. Your education rests on our Four Pillars:

    • International—an internationalized curriculum, a diverse campus community, and studying abroad opportunities.
    • Integrative—CSUCI's signature interdisciplinary approach.
    • Multicultural—a campus that reflects the real world a curriculum that prepares you for it.
    • Community engagement—valuable experience you need and a chance to make the world better.

Placing students at the center of the educational experience, California State University Channel Islands provides undergraduate and graduate education that facilitates learning within and across disciplines through integrative approaches, emphasizes experiential and service learning, and graduates with multicultural and international perspectives.

We are young—and innovative, which means we are not stuck in outdated teaching and learning modes.Take our signature interdisciplinary approach to courses and programs. Because of it, you might take a course that combines, say, art with science or history with the business.

Student Support Services (SSS) at California State University Channel Islands is a student-centered program that assists first-generation and income-qualified students and students with disabilities. SSS is federally funded to serve 160 students throughout the academic year. SSS's goal is to increase the retention and graduation rates of those students who are first-generation, low-income, and disabled. With SSS assistance, students will complete the requirements for a baccalaureate degree and possibly continue to graduate or professional school. SSS supports student success by providing a comprehensive individualized program of active and targeted assistance aimed at increasing academic accomplishment and providing and building cooperative and trusting relationships with students.
