    As OIT enters its fourth decades, university's goal is to become the leading center of discovery and learning in vocational education.
    Delivering the Core Value of Vocational Education To flourish vocational education features, the university formed an industry approach environment. Our students benefit from a tailored approach that helps them to get the most from their studies.     Evolving Synergy of Far-Eastern Conglomerate Under the firm support of Far-Eastern Conglomerate, Far-Eastern Memorial Hospital, and the future Far-Eastern T-Park, OIT has built a robust industry-academy collaboration relationship. Following the establishment of Telecom Technology Center, Health Care Center will be found in August 2008. Our vision is to be renowned as a forward-thinking, enterprising, and business engaged university.
    The Oriental Institute of Technology (OIT) strives for an innovative, holistic, and open educational philosophy to establish quality teaching. Our educational philosophy strengthens and nurtures OIT students with skills, knowledge, and community awareness.
    To enable students to experience diverse cultures and enhance civic literacy, the General Education Center holds regular activities such as seminars, talks with invited experts, and 'Cultural Tours' to inspire and provide a different learning form. To foster cultural creativity within our students and teachers, visits to cultural sites, and participation in art activities are highly encouraged. Additionally, the library has created a space for 'Local Arts Masters' to display their artistic works, play related videos, and hold seminars to broaden students' horizons of diverse art forms.
    To enhance students' English proficiency before starting their first college semester, OIT organizes 'Summer English Workshops' for freshmen students to help them prepare basic English ability. All departments are actively integrating professional and general English into their curriculum. Besides, OIT has established an 'English Competency Requirements for Graduation,' offers varied TOEIC classes, and an 'English Reading Corner' to encourage independent learning and increase our students' employability.
    In order to foster key industry professionals, OIT holds a variety of career-building activities. These activities include regular industry talks and a structured Professional Module course to strengthen our students' professional capacity. The course constructs a distinctive learning process, and encourages students to take interdisciplinary elective courses. OIT also strengthens students' practical experience through business internships to cultivate professionals in Information, Communications, Health Care, and in the creative, innovative, and enterprising industries.
    Oriental Institute of Technology traces its roots back to 1968 when the Oriental Academy of Industrial Technology was established. Mr. Yu-Ziang Hsu, the founder of Far Eastern Textile Group, aimed to meet the need of the economic growth nationwide, presented his version of a school-based on the spirit of "Broaden Knowl-edge, Appreciate Virtue, Cultivate Talents, and Prosper Nation." It is recognized as the nation's first private two-year academy.
    In 1973 the academy was renamed the Oriental Academy of Industry, comprised of four departments – Textile, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer.
    Keeping up with the school's motto of "Sincerity, Diligence, Thrift, and Prudence," Oriental Institute of Technology adheres to the principle of "Creativity, Consideration, Communication, and Cooperation" in anticipation of transforming the school into an industrial application school that integrates both technology and culture, innovation and quality, profession and shared knowledge as well as theory and practice. Envisioning the future, by investing in new facilities, recruiting competitive faculty, designing forefront courses, undertaking innovative research, and enhancing teaching quality, we attempt to thrive and become a vocational education model.
    In recent years we have been encouraging our teachers and students to take part in international competitions. Listed below are some invention fairs in which we have gained prizes: I have (France), iENA (Germany), ITEX (Malaysia), Concours Lepine (France), and SIIF (South Korea).
