When establishing the school, Taiwan was transforming from an agricultural society into an industrial society. To educate more expert technical professionals and follow national economic development, the school's title was named Nan Jeon Junior College of Technology. The school motto was proficient research to practical applications. The preparatory work for setting up the school started in early May 1966. On July 14th, 1966, the preliminary work for setting up the school was granted by the Ministry of Education. On June 30th, 1967, the registration of the school was approved, and enrollment was initiated.
The school motto, proficient research to practical applications, has been the core spirit. NJU has been more than forty years to develop and educate the essential expert person in Taiwan. Over the years, the school alumni have actively participated in the industry, commence, or academic institutes at home and abroad. Their performance has been highly praised and won much reputation.
