Moscow State Mining University is one of the oldest universities in Moscow. In 2008 the Moscow State Mining University celebrated its 90th anniversary. A long tradition of education passed down from generation to generation, the teaching staff of the University, these days combined with the latest technology and the latest scientific achievements. MSMU has come a long way from birth in its most difficult years of the Civil War, through the Great Patriotic War to remain one of the leading universities in the USSR and Russia in mining technology.
Now, MSMU prepares mining engineers of the highest level. However, in our time in Moscow, Mining has other, not narrow, mining degrees. It is a faculty of automation, robotics, and computer science, with several departments preparing economists. Strong positions in the mining industry were achieved thanks to advanced computer technology, continually improving mining and processing mineral resources. Since 1918, the University has trained more than 50,000 professionals: engineers, bachelors, and masters. In 2008, 6,500 students studied at the Moscow State Mining University.
MSMU consists of 5 main faculties(schools) and 39 departments. Twenty-two scientific degrees are on offer. The University has an excellent experienced teaching staff. Today 840 teachers work full-time at the University. MSMU is well equipped to train true professionals to meet the high demands of the modern post-industrial society.
