    The University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca is the successor of the prestigious Higher School of Agriculture of Cluj, founded 145 years ago, in October 1869, under the Institute of Agronomic Studies, Cluj-Minister. In 1906, the Institute reached the Academy level, becoming the Academy of Agriculture of Cluj.
    The university's goal is to promote excellence in education, research, and innovation by primary academic initial and postgraduate instruction, my life, long learning, and integration within the universal value system according to the requirements of a knowledge-based society.
    The University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca comprises faculties, departments, a library, research units, museums, cafeterias, administrative and technical services, establishments for practical training, recreation, social services, etc. The University Strategy Council is an advisory body of the Rector's institution, with the purpose of counseling/guiding the latter in taking/preparing the critical decisions regarding the university, such as those related to education, research, infrastructure development, and finance management, international relations, etc.
    The University Strategy Council ensures, via the suggested strategies, the university's future planning and determines how to support its materialization, by the mission the university had committed to, the objectives of the university strategic planning, and the Rector's managerial plan. The development of a university requires that specific quantitative and qualitative parameters be attained to ensure the increment of the university's performance and competitiveness nationwide and internationally.
    The university encourages and supports the cultural life and the practice of sports, providing diverse activities so that the students and the local community manifest the skills and interests in a pleasant and organized way. The University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca is a state-owned higher education institution. The university functions by the legislation in force and with its Charter.
    The university provides the academic instruction of its highly qualified specialists in the main fields of agricultural and forestry sciences, engineering, veterinary medicine, and natural sciences by promoting bachelor, masters, Ph.D., and postgraduation studies based on the development of knowledge, research, and innovation. The university supports the educational process's permanent improvement by continuously adapting its specialization subjects by reviewing the curricula and the study programs according to the national and international development standards and perspectives regarding the targeted fields.
    By master's, Ph.D., postgraduate studies, specialization using continuing professional training of the specialists and farmers' qualification, by improving the skills of the pre-university teaching staff and the central academic teaching staff, the university defines itself as an active member of the lifelong formation and the professional reorientation of the human resources.
    By recruiting, promoting, and improving its teaching and research staff's teaching and research staff, the university provides the human resources required to the academic and postgraduate professional formation and patterns regarding professional and civic behavior. The academic community members make the university a nation and inter-nationwide active element in the research, technological transfer, and employment educational programs and policies.
    International Relations represent a crucial factor in the institutional activity of a modern university. The University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca holds a long tradition regarding international cooperation, both educationally and scientifically. The collaborations within the Erasmus, Erasmus Mundus, CEEPUS, COST, AUF programs allowed a considerable number of students of our university to study abroad or to take part in postgraduate academic training stages in highly ranked laboratories in Europe. The orientation towards the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca's internationalization represents an essential goal in the medium and long-term development strategy.
