Vision
The University's basic philosophy and goals find eloquent expression in its Coat of Arms emblazoning the motto "Tejaswinavadhitamastu" which in essence means "may the wisdom accrued deify us both the teacher and the taught and percolate to the Universe in its totality," which in a sense means "may learning to illumine us both" (the teacher and the taught).
Mission
The University shall have the following objectives as its mission:
(i) to prosecute and promote research in applied science, technology, industry, commerce, management, and social science for the advancement of knowledge and the betterment of society;
(ii) to provide facilities and offer opportunities for graduate and post-graduate education in applied science, technology, industry, commerce, management, and social science by instruction, training, research, development, and extension and by such other means as the University may deem fit;
(iii) to devise and implement programs of education in applied science, technology, industry, commerce, management, and social science that are relevant to the changing needs of society, in terms of breadth of diversity and depth of specialization;
(iv) to serve as a center for fostering co-operation and exchange of ideas between the academic and research community on the one hand and industry on the other;
(v) to organize exchange programs with other repute institutions in India and abroad to keep abreast of the latest developments in teaching and research areas.
University Library
Established in 1977, the University Library is fully automated and one of the country's best scientific and technical libraries. It has built up a balanced and rich collection on all branches of Science and Technology and books of general interest in various subject fields. The KOHA FOSS package, a user-friendly library management software that supports all in-house activities of the Library, is installed here.
The bibliographic records of books, journals, and theses in the Library can be accessed globally through WebOPAC(http://opac.cusat.ac.in.). The Library provides campus-wide IP-enabled access to online journals under the UGC- INFONET DIGITAL Library Consortia and INDEST Consortia, under which electronic full-text access is provided to the scholarly literature of all major areas of learning like IEEE digital library, Science Direct, ACS, RSC, Nature, IOP, Springer, etc.
It also subscribes to online databases like Manupatra, Emerald, Proquest, CMIE Prowess, and SciFinder. Members can avail of inter-library loan service and document delivery service from DELNET for books and journal articles not available in the Library. An Institutional Repository "Dyuthi" where research publications and Ph.D. theses are available online to the public is also housed in Library.
