Around 1,300 men and women are studying at our university, on courses in Social Work and Social Sciences, Practical Theology and Healthcare and Nursing. The Catholic University of Applied Sciences Mainz is a university of a manageable size offering numerous advantages. Anonymity in vast lecture halls does not exist here. Small teaching groups and a compact layout facilitate useful contacts and lively dialogue between all university members. A broad scientific foundation characterizes the CUAS Mainz courses, a high degree of practical orientation, and numerous complimentary activities (e.g., media, music, and theology). You will naturally also find a range of university pastoral care services and - in difficult situations - a psychological counseling office.
The UCAS Mainz is closely linked with two institutes. The Institute of Applied Research and International Relations (if) is your point of contact for research and advisory projects in the fields of applied health, social, and welfare research, as well as in ecclesiastical, social research. International university cooperation and advice on internships and study stays abroad are further focused on the institute's work. The Institute of Further Education (if) offers a diverse range of further education and development measures to specialist and management personnel from the social, health, and education sectors.
The Institute of Applied Research and International Relations (ifb) of the Catholic University of Applied Sciences Mainz (CUAS Mainz) is the central service and coordination point for activities in research and international relations at the CUAS Mainz. The institute's ongoing focuses include impact research in health and social settings, child and youth welfare, case management, health and nursing research, ecclesiastical, social research, and the international exchange of specialists and students. The specific Catholic university profile results in the educational remit and an obligation to ensure the research's application orientation and transfer the research results into practice. For UCAS Mainz, this effectively means tackling current social challenges and problems.
For over 25 years, the ifw has been offering qualified training programs for specialist and executive personnel. We can reflect on interesting years with impressive social work changes, the healthcare sector, and the respective organizations. We are always asking ourselves the questions: How can we contribute to successful professional and personal development through training? What concepts support structures within organizations, which enable respectful and task-oriented cooperation? How can we bring practice, science, and value-orientation together in productive interplay, and in doing so, contribute to targeted development processes of the individuals and the organizations?
