Here at Woodgate, your child is at the center of everything that we do. We want your child to achieve all that they are capable of. Our school motto is ‘Happy, Hardworking, Successful.’ We believe that we can achieve this by forging a strong partnership between home and school, a partnership based on open and effective communication. Our website is a big part of this communication. Success in the education of your child depends, at least in some part, on your involvement. If your child sees that you are enthusiastic about their education, they are far more likely to view their schooling in a positive light and be more receptive to learning. At Woodgate, we encourage respect for democracy and support participation in democratic processes. Democracy is the basis on which the law is made and applied in Britain. Through the democratic process, citizens can influence decision-making in Britain. Our School Council is one way in which the democratic process is modeled in school. Different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, but all people living in Britain are subject to its laws. It is sometimes called the ‘law of the land’ and everyone must live by it. It is the same with our school code and school rules. The rule of law protects people, ensures wellbeing, and keeps them safe. We define respect in the school’s core values. The school community agrees it is our most important value. School furthers tolerance and harmony between different cultural traditions by enabling pupils to acquire an appreciation of and respect for their own and other cultures to understand that each individual is unique and to recognize and explore our differences in a safe, positive, and nurturing environment.
