  1. Our organization has been a critical educational contributor in the local region for 40 years. As principally Adult and Community Education Providers, we have our origins based on the advancement and support of lifelong learning opportunities. We provide specialist assistance that establishes pathways to further educational opportunities. Our programs cater to young people's needs and interests, secondary school students in Years 9 to 12, the general community, third-age learners, workplaces, and businesses. We have also extended our range of activities to cater to children through mobile childcare, in-venue childcare, and preschools. With the support of numerous Affiliated Centres in our regional Victoria and New South Wales areas, we assist approximately 6,000 students and customers per year. Over the years the Albury Wodonga Community College has maintained a unique position as a cross-border Education provider, registered in Victoria and New South Wales as an ACE provider and RTO. The AWCC supports other smaller Victorian rural towns with Affiliated Centres who maintain their local autonomy. The AWCC works with a wide range of education providers, community and government agencies, and links with community services providing a holistic network of delivery and referral. The AWCC has developed a leadership style, which is quite demanding. The organization's goals are broad to enable quick responses to needs as they are expressed across the community. As a community-based provider, the AWCC has faced challenges, responding with both innovation and vigor to greet the coming years ahead. The Albury Wodonga Community College will be a vibrant educational organization at the forefront of meeting our community's changing needs in a flexible, innovative, and positive way. To respond to the learning needs of the Albury Wodonga regional community positively. With small class sizes, teaching, and welfare staff who are committed to helping you re-engage with education and understand that you have a lot going on in your life, you will enjoy learning in an environment that is fun, supportive and provides pathways to employment or further education. 2. The Melbourne Declaration on Educational Goals for Young Australians (2008) outlines the nation's goals for educating its citizens. The preamble begins with "As a Nation Australia values the central role of education in building a democratic, equitable and just society…" Grace Christian College believes that the Gospel of Grace has been an important influence in Australian society to assist and enable the achievement of these values. Christ's death and resurrection provide the opportunity for all people to come into a relationship with the Creator by faith. Through understanding His Word and experiencing the empowering of the Holy Spirit, each person can grow in Christ's likeness, allowing them to develop the character that supports democracy, equity, and justice. At Grace Christian College, we seek to provide a learning program that embeds the Christian Worldview into the curriculum and supports students in developing a perspective that allows them to "see the world the way God sees it." Grace Christian College seeks to be a community where the Grace of God is evident, where diversity is respected, and each person is encouraged to "put on Christ" as they walk with Him in their daily lives. It is my prayer that members of the school community will feel welcome and accepted while at the same time being challenged to develop their capacities to their fullest and be "equipped for every good work." Our vision for Christ is to rule in our students' hearts and minds to contribute as citizens to a peaceful and just society through a biblical understanding of family, community, and human endeavor. Our Mission is to realize our Vision, Grace Christian College, in cooperation with parents, staff, and students will: Provide a Christ-honoring learning environment. Develop each student's Potential Encourage a lifelong commitment to be enquiring seekers of knowledge and understanding. Inspire students to have compassion for the world as demonstrated by Jesus Christ Ensure staff can mediate the Christian faith in a real and vital way through their own devotional, prayer, and service lives. Recognize that each student is uniquely gifted by God and accountable to Him for what they do with their lives and help them find their calling and prepare for it. Education involves the whole child academically, physically, mentally, and spiritually and will teach them to think and reflect in meaningful ways. Grace has noted that education research highlights the need to take a life-long approach to learn and ensure young students have the mastery of fundamental skills required to support this. Foster the notion that the gaining of knowledge and understanding is an accumulative life-long activity, and our engagement with truth is an unfolding experience as we think through issues and evaluate evidence. Provide courses and other opportunities to allow the development of critical thinking skills and self-reflection. By understanding their own culture and its foundational beliefs, students will connect with those in other cultures. Recognizing the universality of the Gospel message for all humans, they will understand their role as global citizens and connect with other cultures in an empathetic manner. Through opportunities to serve others, students will learn that God calls us to be fruitful in our lives in making a more peaceful and just world for all to live in. Each student's response will involve faith in action, self-sacrifice, and a deep devotion to serving Jesus Christ in a fallen world, recognizing that all people are God's creation. Our college seeks to encourage growth intellectually, physically, and spiritually through various learning programs and a shared understanding of Christian beliefs and values. View full school
