All of the University's schools, programs, and initiatives are guided by shared fidelity to this central purpose. Concordia University Wisconsin is a Lutheran higher education community committed to helping students develop in mind, body, and spirit for service to Christ in the Church and the world. Bound by the Biblical and Confessional teachings of The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod, the members of the Board of Regents, the Concordia University Foundation Board members, the President, and employees of the University shall act in a manner consistent with these core values. The faculty, leadership, staff, students, and alumni carry out Concordia's mission every day to pursue a vibrant path to the future. Our vision is to be well known nationally and internationally as a premier Lutheran Christian university, widely recognized for meaningful integration of faith and learning. Our alumni will assume significant servant leadership responsibilities in the Church and communities across the nation and worldwide. Concordia University Wisconsin is a vibrant learning community with a mission to prepare students for service in the Church and world. One way we realize this mission is by hosting speakers, conferences, performances, and educational events that are open to everyone. These events are designed to encourage students and alumni to engage in meaningful discussions with community members. In so doing, we extend the learning community beyond the campus grounds to ignite meaningful action and impact lives. Concordia University Wisconsin offers you more than a degree. You can learn thoroughly—in mind, body, and spirit—and be ultimately you. In class and out of class, you will make real connections—relationships that will last a lifetime with people who sincerely want to see you achieve your fullest potential. Learn more about Concordia's life. Are you looking for the full college life experience? With eight residence halls to choose from, some with lake views and balconies, Concordia has plenty of options so you can be sure your home away from home will be just the right fit. Did we mention that all of the halls are connected by miles of heated indoor tunnels? That means you can have all of the comforts of home without having to go outside. Concordia University Wisconsin is known for its breathtaking views of Lake Michigan. Many students will say the campus' location played a significant role in their decision to enroll. However, a large percentage of Concordia alumni living today—and even a few current faculty—will recall making a very different commute to school. That is because Concordia's original campus was located in downtown Milwaukee on 31st Street, between State and Highland Streets. From the school's inception in 1881 to 1983, students who attended CUW (then called Concordia College) did so. The inaugural class of Concordians, which was comprised of 13 students, met in the basement of Trinity Lutheran Church in downtown Milwaukee. The next year, the 31st Street property was purchased to start Concordia's first permanent campus. For the next approximately eight decades, Concordia College offered high school and the first two years of a liberal arts college program, providing classical, technical, and religious instruction for students who desired to prepare themselves for the Lutheran Church ministry. In 1978, The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod authorized Concordia to become a four-year accredited college that would provide instruction in teacher education, nursing, medical assistant, social work, and engineering. In a farsighted move in 1982, the LCMS purchased the former campus of the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Mequon, Wisconsin, and the college was moved 15 minutes north of its original site. On August 27, 1989, the Board of Regents approved the move to university status, and Concordia University Wisconsin became the first University among the 10-member Concordia University System. In 2012, CUW entered into a strategic relationship with Concordia University in Ann Arbor. The University now consists of two residential campuses in Wisconsin and Ann Arbor, ten satellite centers located throughout Wisconsin and in St. Louis, and online programs that reach students worldwide, with one President and governing body presiding overall.

  4. Wisconsin Academy is a secondary coeducational boarding school formerly known as Bethel Academy and was founded in 1899 by the Wisconsin Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. It operated at Arpin, Wisconsin, until the spring of 1949. Beginning September 4, 1949, the school opened its doors near Columbus, Wisconsin, under the name of Wisconsin Academy. Wisconsin Academy maintains high standards—not to discourage, but to challenge all students and help them reach worthy goals: mentally, physically, and spiritually. Students will be expected to try sincerely to honor Christ in all they do. Also, they are to respect and uphold the principles and policies of the school. Potential students will want to carefully read over this handbook and give special attention to the statement of desired outcomes and the student statement of commitment before deciding to attend Wisconsin Academy. The principal, along with his administrative team and those faculty and staff hired by the administration and the Board of Education, has been charged with the responsibility for the school's successful operation. Students are expected to give proper respect and show courteous behavior toward those in authority. Parents are encouraged to cooperate with and support the position of the administration, faculty, and staff. A student is always expected to follow directions given by a staff member unless they are asked to do something illegal or immoral. If a student feels he/she is being mistreated, he/she should do what is asked and then come to the principal or vice-principal to explain the concern. We encourage open dialogue in a kind and tactful manner as we jointly tend to train and educate our youth. Wisconsin Academy is a coeducational school that admits students of any race, religion, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, and programs available to students. Wisconsin Academy does not discriminate based on race, color, or national and ethnic origin in administering its educational policies, admission policies, and other school-administered programs.
