  1. Founded by entrepreneurs in 1982 as the first co-ed, independent school in Columbus, Wellington propels students in preschool through grade 12 to discover and cultivate their unique potential. The biggest reward is knowing that our students are prepared. Not just for the days, we can see ahead, but for the ones we cannot even imagine. We believe that learning should be exciting, purposeful, life-changing — and unique to every child. Our mission is to guide students as they explore all the possibilities set before them so they can discover their true passions in life. We are an independent, coeducational, preschool-through-grade 12, college-preparatory day school. Our students benefit from small classes as they dive deep into their knowledge of the world and themselves. All of our graduates attend college, with many matriculating to the nation's top universities. Students carry with them the ideals of The Wellington School and an insatiable desire for lifelong learning. The mission of The Wellington School has remained steadfast since it was first conceived more than 30 years ago. Giving children the courage to pursue their passions is foremost in everything we do. We believe students should have the opportunity to excel in academics and explore the arts, athletics, and service to the community. These activities better prepare our students as they take their place as future leaders in the global community. Curiosity and creativity are fundamental in our approach to educating the whole child. We encourage parents, students, and faculty to think big, and then we provide them with the necessary tools to make their dreams a reality. Every day and in every interaction, the Wellington family expects integrity, fosters mutual respect, embraces diversity, inspires each person to discover and strives to meet their unique potential, and celebrates excellence in character, academics, the arts, and athletics. Life as a Jaguar is filled with connections that foster a meaningful sense of community. Crossing languages, cultures, school divisions, and the lunch table, our students connect as mentors, buddies, teammates, and partners. At Wellington, how we learn is just as important as what we learn. The Wellington School prepares students for success in life by nurturing their inquisitive nature to discover their passions. We provide the foundation of excellent education and give them the tools to face – with confidence and responsibility – the challenges of being lifelong, inquisitive learners, teachers of others, and leaders in an increasingly complex world. Our students further enhance their growth by participating at all ages in sports, theater, music, and competitions. We believe practical life skills can be learned either in center field or on center stage. The Wellington School also facilitates community service projects that help students stay grounded and realistic in their worldviews. We believe learning should be joyful, and we are committed to helping each child find delight in every discovery he or she makes while becoming a capable learner. Our innovative curriculum is not dictated by standardized testing. It is integrated across subjects and customized to fulfill the needs and interests of our students. The Wellington School offers college counseling, rather than placement, to ensure success at the post-secondary level. This difference cannot be overstated. Our program is distinctive in its empowerment of students to search for, identify, and enroll in colleges that are strong fits based on their passions and circumstances. The Wellington family comprises students, parents, faculty, and administrators who support each other and embrace their differences. We acknowledge the myriad of ways that individuals define themselves as society continues to grow and evolve. Wellington's founders were devoted to creating a diverse learning environment for students, and we actively seek a student body that mirrors our school's mission. Diversity at Wellington is defined by differences in race, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status. The Wellington School affirms its commitment to diversity and multiculturalism in our school community. Diversity at Wellington is defined by differences in race, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, physical ability, and learning styles. Wellington will continue to acknowledge the ways that individuals define themselves as society grows and changes. Multiculturalism is defined as understanding and appreciating the value of differences and embracing and celebrating our population's diversity. As we prepare our students to be capable citizens in our increasingly inter-dependent and global world, we recognize how essential it is that they learn to appreciate the qualities and experiences of others who are different. Wellington's founders were devoted to creating a diverse learning environment for its students. In keeping with the school's mission and the founders' intent, we recommend enhancing educational practices and all aspects of the institutional culture to reinforce the values of diversity and multiculturalism. We support an environment that enriches the school community's learning experiences and prepares students to function responsibly in a complex, pluralistic, multicultural society. View full school
  2. Wellington College International Hangzhou opened in September 2018 to Pre-Prep and Prep pupils between the ages of five and eleven. We aimed to introduce the Primary phase of the school in our first year and then extend it over time. We provide world-class facilities for all pupils, the very best teachers following the English National Curriculum and International Primary Curriculum, and integrate all of this with the Wellington College model of excellence and holistic education. Whilst housed on the same site as our bilingual partner schools, Huili School Hangzhou and Huili Nursery Hangzhou (and therefore sharing many facilities at this time), we are very much independent in terms of curriculum and staffing. Like all Wellington College International Schools, we aim to be at the pinnacle of international education both in practice and in thinking. At Wellington College International Hangzhou, we want our children to become the very best versions of themselves. We encourage and expect children to be Inspired, Intellectual, Independent, Individual and Inclusive. We take great pride in our internationalism, our co-educationalism, our service program, and the ‘extra’ curriculum we provide for all our pupils. At Wellington College International Hangzhou we believe that every child is unique and special and it is, therefore, our duty and pleasure to provide them with as many valid experiences as possible to help them find themselves as they grow and mature. Our vision is to inspire pupils to become intellectual, independent, individual, and inclusive of our Wellington identity. This will be based on a model of holistic education and pastoral provision that establishes the values, skills, and knowledge needed to be an effective global citizen. We aim to prepare pupils for success during and beyond life at the College. We aspire to create a caring, learning community that develops well-rounded individuals with strong values and the skills and identity to thrive within an ever-changing world. We provide a learning environment in which students are: United: Through the values of kindness, courage, integrity, respect, and responsibility to engage positively and proactively within the school community and beyond. Progressive: The community is committed to continuously developing and improving in all that it does so that pupils can thrive in terms of academic progress and personal development. Well-rounded: This is achieved through a broad offering of curricular and extracurricular opportunities underpinned by the Wellington values and identity. We want Wellingtonians to have been genuinely excited by everything they have done during their time at the College. They will have developed a zest for life so that they, in turn, go into the world ready and able to inspire others. This is the core pillar of the Wellington Identity. Wellingtonians must move into the world with the ability to think critically and to engage in deep learning. They will be able to study beyond the bounds of any curriculum, be inquisitive and ask questions of everything around them, and be imbued with a life-long love of learning. Wellingtonians will develop personal, cognitive, social, and study skills to enable them to cope with the challenges of university and their lives beyond. They will adapt, cope and thrive within an ever-changing world. This will be reflected in our academic curriculum, our co-curricular program, our commitment to the coaching philosophy, and our continued focus on character development and leadership. A Wellington education aims to allow pupils to develop themselves fully in every sense, knowing that interested children become interesting adults. The pastoral care and focus on pupil wellbeing at the College will value every pupil as a unique individual. The journey to individuality will also be reflected in the broad curricular and co-curricular opportunities, where every pupil discovers and develops fully their talents, passions, and interests, knowing that interested children become interesting adults. Wellingtonians will leave the College, not in a bubble of elitism, privilege, and exclusivity, but with the moral values and social conscience to serve others and do good in life. This inclusivity includes a strong pride in coeducation and a commitment to internationalism through the A-Level and a service program unrivaled in schools. View full school
  3. Wellington’s ethos rests on three principles: outstanding relationships, a love of learning, and the pursuit of excellence. We want children to feel secure and confident, to feel supported and understood, to feel able to turn to those around them for guidance and encouragement. Our relationships are informed by values such as kindness, tolerance, inclusivity, and trust. We work together to bring out the best in one another. As a learning community, we are process-oriented we work through problems, we don’t shy away from challenges, we understand that getting things wrong at first is part of getting them right in the end. We are ambitious in our aspirations but humble enough to accept that there is always more we can learn. If our girls and boys feel confident and secure and if they enjoy their learning, then we believe they will rise to the high expectations we have of them. The pursuit of excellence is a mindset rather than a destination and we work tirelessly to support our children to become the very best they can be. We are a collaborative and purposeful community. Our children are at the heart of everything we do and nothing pleases us more than supporting them in their journey and seeing them enjoy their school days. Wellington School was founded in 1837 to provide a commercial, mathematical and classical education for boys. It was supported financially by the county authorities from 1902 and acquired its present name in 1913. The school admitted girls into the Sixth Form in the early 1970s and became fully co-educational in 1978, the year it returned to full independence. The school occupies a 35-acre site in the center of the market town of Wellington in Somerset and, in 2000, a purpose-built junior school was opened on an adjacent site. This was renamed Wellington Prep School in September 2014. Wellington is a wonderful school and it is a privilege to lead such a happy, dynamic, and diverse community. We delight in celebrating our pupils’ many remarkable achievements, but it is the quality of the relationships we enjoy both within the school, and beyond our gates, which we value most highly. We believe that children who are secure in themselves will be able to confidently express who they are and honesty, integrity, kindness, tolerance, and inclusivity are some of the values we hold dear. Learning, in its many forms, is at the heart of all we do and our inspirational teachers support each pupil in achieving their best possible academic outcomes. Results, however, are only one element of the learning journey and we want our pupils to be independent, intellectually curious, creative problem-solvers who can communicate effectively and work with others to address challenging problems. Being located in an area of such natural beauty allows our pupils to safely explore the world around them and grow in confidence and character as they do so. Exploration and discovery are central to our learning philosophy. We have high expectations of our pupils, but we don’t want them to be afraid of failure – we understand that intellectual and personal growth is often the result of making mistakes and having the resilience to overcome challenges. We are proud of our rich history but we are as proud of being a progressive, forward-looking school that provides an outstanding all-round education. We want our pupils to be ambitious and confident, but without a hint of arrogance or a sense of entitlement. We believe that each pupil should feel known, valued, and understood. We work tirelessly to ensure that our pupils leave Wellington equipped to thrive. A strong sense of community defines the Wellington way and we want every member of our community to look forward to arriving at school each morning. We would be delighted if you came to visit us - you will receive a warm Wellington welcome. Wellington School was founded in 1837 to provide a commercial, mathematical and classical education for boys. The school occupies a 35-acre site in the center of the market town of Wellington in Somerset and, in 2000, a purpose-built junior school was opened on an adjacent site. This was renamed Wellington Prep School in September 2014. The school now provides day and boarding education for boys and girls, who are each allocated to one of four boarding and ten-day houses. The School occupies 35 acres near the town center which has a population of 12,500. The town lies equidistant between Taunton and Tiverton railway stations (both approximately 20 minutes away). The character of the area, situated between the Blackdown Hills (now an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), the Brendon Hills, and the Quantocks, has remained largely unaltered for many years. The Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks and the North and South coasts are within an hour’s drive away. The catchment area for day pupils extends up to 20-30 miles around the town and buses cover the whole region. The School has witnessed an extensive building program over the last twenty years. The new buildings having been carefully and tastefully blended in with the existing architecture. Most recent buildings include the John Kendall-Carpenter Science Centre with its state-of-the-art laboratories and lecture theatre and a £2.6m sports complex which was opened by H.R.H Princess Royal in September 2002. New English classrooms and an examination hall opened in January 2009 and major improvements to music and performing arts facilities were completed in early 2011. Further building projects, including a new study center, library, and café facility as well as a new astro-turf are currently underway. In addition to the Olympic Standard Sports Complex, there are 5 rugby pitches, 9 tarmac tennis courts, 9 Astro tennis courts, 4 purpose-built netball courts, a floodlit artificial turf hockey pitch, and 3 grass pitches, cricket pitches, and a 300m athletics track, 2 squash courts, and a covered, heated swimming pool. The Memorial Chapel of St Michael and George sits firmly in the middle of the site and follows the Anglican Communion. Many of our parents make significant self-sacrifices for their children’s education and, thus, there is a happy blend of pupils from all walks of life and from overseas, to form a well-bonded community. 5. Wellington College is a school like no other. Where many focus on examination results and view league table position as the main criterion for success, the whole ethos of Wellington is focused on every individual who passes through our gates. If education, in the truest sense of the word, is about bringing the best out of children, then delivering a raft of A and A* grades is not enough, undoubtedly important though examination results are. We aim to inspire and support our pupils so they can become the very best they can be in every single way. By helping them become happy and fully-rounded young men and women examination grades naturally follow, as our outstanding A-Level, IB, and GCSE results prove. Our educational philosophy is therefore focused on the traits which we want all Wellingtonians to acquire before taking their place in the adult world. We want our pupils to be inspired by everything they do at Wellington, both inside and outside of the classroom, so they leave school as interested and interesting people. We want our pupils to adopt a genuinely intellectual approach to their academic work and their view of the world around them, in the knowledge that a Wellington education is only the beginning of an exciting and life-long journey of learning. We want our pupils to become truly independent, as those who can think, learn and cope independently will be the leaders and game-changers of the future. We want every pupil to be valued and developed as an individual, so their Wellington experience is much more than just going to school – rather, it is the journey to self. And we want our pupils to be inclusive in all dealings with other people, so they leave the College not in a bubble of privilege and elitism, but with the ability to engage with their local, national, and international communities, and with a burning desire to do good in the world. The College, founded in 1853 as a living memorial to the Duke of Wellington, sought to deliver an inspirational education for all of its pupils. As the school grew, so too did the identity of those pupils. It is an identity built on intellectual curiosity, on true independence, on generous and far-reaching inclusivity, and on the courage to be properly and unselfishly individual. It is, in short, the capacity to be inspired to become the very best you can be. And it is these qualities that are present in the thousands of small interactions that happen all the time here, the little daily miracles that make this such a special place. After all, the school we build is the school we build together, and every pupil who passes through Wellington leaves an indelible mark on our community. It is my absolute responsibility to help all our pupils become the very best that they can be, and to develop the identity that marks them out as a true Wellingtonian. Wellington College is set in 400 acres of beautiful parkland in leafy Berkshire, one hour from Central London and just 40 minutes from Heathrow. Please do explore our online tour to get a sense of the scope and size of the school, for our campus is quite simply stunning. Wellington’s curriculum is vibrant, demanding, and progressive, and with our ground-breaking Wellbeing course and classes in Philosophy and Thinking, Wellington has become nationally renowned as a center for curriculum development. Our stunning examination results and university outcomes speak for themselves. Creativity flourishes and it was no surprise when the Arts Council awarded us Artsmark Gold in recognition of the outstanding provision and standards across all the Arts at the school. We have a “premier league” reputation as one of the best schools for sport in the UK and, in recent years, our teams have achieved national renown and titles in hockey, rugby, golf, shooting, triathlon, squash, equestrianism, cricket, rackets, and polo. Outward-facing in all that we do, the College’s focus on service, leadership, and character education means that Wellingtonians leave the school fully prepared for the challenges of adult life in the 21st century. The choice lies at the heart of our co-curriculum and is central to developing the Wellington Identity which ensures that all our pupils are Inspired, Intellectual, Independent, Individual and Inclusive. Our pupils and our staff see every day as an opportunity, a chance to grow, and a chance to learn and the journey as a life-long learner begins the moment a child starts at Wellington.

  11. Wellington Christian School is a beautiful and much-loved place of learning. Established in 1982, our school is a K-6 co-educational family, located on a picturesque campus on the outskirts of Wellington's regional town. We draw from both town and farming families and exist as a place for families to belong and grow together. WCS is affiliated with Christian Education National (CEN), an Australia-wide network of independent Christian schools. Our school was established to provide an authentically Christian education alternative for families and continues to do so. We believe that parents or primary caregivers usually know their children best and are vital in the education partnership. We desire to be authentic, responsive, and transformational in working with students, partner with parents, and carers and play our part in the broader community. In 2014 Dubbo Christian School, a large and well-established P-12 school, 50km west, assumed operation of Wellington Christian School. An excellent relationship has been established, with Year 6 students often beginning their high schooling at Dubbo Christian School. Daily buses run from Wellington to Dubbo. Students at Wellington Christian School are involved in many activities across the school day and year. The opportunities available are a blessing and a privilege. Not only do they satisfy the demands of the curriculum, but they often go far beyond. Many of the activities we are involved in as a school is not just for our students. We invite parents, carers, grandparents, and others to be part of WCS school life. We believe that when home and school work together, the best outcomes result. Choosing a school for your family is an important decision, for in so doing, you form a relationship. We believe in the adage that it takes a village and commit to doing our part to walk in partnership with our parents and carers in their children's education. We have a warm and inclusive community and culture that operates in an atmosphere of honesty and trust. Our people are certainly our greatest asset and blessing. We are a K-6 school with a fascinating story of re-establishment and growth. Under the guidance of a deeply committed, talented, and skilled teaching team, our students are nurtured and encouraged to dig deep in their thinking and learning. Sometimes as teachers, it is our job to remind students what they are capable of and guide them towards it. At Wellington Christian School, we believe in a thorough academic education and education towards character and faith. We know that one's aptitude and capabilities are essential but are either enhanced or constrained by the foundation of character and belief that they rest on. Authentic. Responsive. Transformational. These three words underpin who we are and why we exist as a school. Our deep belief that education and every action in life should be authentic and trustworthy should be targeted and responsive. It should be ever encouraging and believing that transformation is possible. Life can indeed be quite uncertain, and not one of us knows what tomorrow will bring. As a school, we aim to create a secure environment; the unknown will always exist. 12.
