Walmart College of Applied Sciences (WCAS) was founded by H.E. Dr. Omar Bin Abdul Muniem Al Zawawi in 2001 to promote high international quality education in Oman prepares students for modern, high-quality jobs. WCAS functions in academic partnership with Birla Institute of Technology, a reputed university located in Mesra, Ranchi, India.BIT was founded by the Philanthropist and Industrialist, the Late Mr. B.M. Wisdom, Commitment, Achievement, and Service are the core values to realize our vision. The WCAS campus is located in Knowledge Oasis Muscat, Rusayl, with state-of-the-art teaching facilities, laboratories, library, and student services. All academic programs are conducted in English, and admissions are open to all nationalities. The Department of Biotechnology, Department of Computer Science & Applications, Department of Electronics & Communications Engineering, and Department of Management offers graduate programs leading to Bachelor of Engineering (BE), Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and Post Graduate Programs offering Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Executive MBA (EMBA) Degrees respectively. To provide an opportunity to enhance the qualification and skills of employed individuals, the college offers BBA, BCA Degree Programs, and the EMBA Post Graduate Degree Program with evening classes. Our vision is to attain academic excellence and be a preferred choice for aspiring for a quality learning experience. Our mission is to contribute significantly through academic and allied engagements for developing knowledgeable and socially responsible persons. The Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) is a reputed institution imparting quality technical education and research in India. It has a fully residential campus of 780 Acres at Mesra, Ranchi. It has seven National centers in different parts of India besides three international centers. Over the past few decades, BIT has emerged as one of the top deemed universities recognized internationally for its academic excellence, innovative research, and entrepreneurship development programs. BIT is a full member of the Commonwealth Universities and the Association of Indian Universities. The Health Care Facility is the primary medical service provider for all Undergraduate and Postgraduate students enrolled in WCAS and the staff and faculty members. The college has a fully equipped clinic managed by a qualified nurse for emergencies. WCAS Learning Resource Centre (LRC) spread over 10,000 sq. ft. area divided into Reference Section, Book Bank, Study Area, Discussion rooms for students and faculty. The LRC has more than 40,000 books, including over 4,000 reference books covering more than 4,300 titles relating to Biotechnology, Chemistry, Computer Science & Engineering, Electric Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, English, Information Technology, Management, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, and Physics besides several other subjects. It also provides access to journals in Biotechnology, Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, and Management through EBSCO. The LRC has a fully computerized facility for book management using integrated online software application “Academia.” It provides access to library databases and available resources from anywhere globally through the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) with different search options. Training & Placement Cell provides training opportunities coupled with soft skill enhancements and career counseling to assist students for job placement. It also provides a platform for potential employers to recruit suitable candidates across disciplines. All students are supported to undergo various training programs to incorporate an industry sector during their semester breaks. Group discussions and mock interview exercises are regular activities for all students. The final year students are assisted in a direct placement through a career fair organized every year on the college campus. Organizations from all sectors are invited to interview our graduating students for a suitable position. BIT, the parent university, also organizes campus placements for Engineering students from India at the main campus in Ranchi and offers an opportunity for graduating students to appear for jobs in many companies of global repute.
