- The all-around, inclusive education on offer at Strathallan has always been a core component of Strathallan's ethos and is focused on bringing out the very best in every pupil. We have high expectations at Strathallan and this encourages our pupils to believe in themselves, to be inquisitive, to be resilient, and to show ambition both in and out of the classroom. Our pupils feel happy and valued, which gives them the confidence, enthusiasm, and social awareness for life-long learning needed to succeed in a fast-changing world. Respect for tradition and an openness to innovation are valued and we encourage our pupils to work with and learn from each other, whilst also showing courage to stand up for what they believe. We aim to send our pupils out into the world with strong friendships already forged and the ability to make new ones, with the knowledge and skills to succeed at university and beyond, and with a broad range of interests to enrich their lives. We are proud to be the first school in Scotland to offer pathways that include full GCSE and A-Level offerings alongside full Highers and Advanced Highers programs. This unique triple pathway is designed to provide choice and flexibility in the face of a diverse range of tertiary education and employment options after school. With 24 subjects to choose from, we offer one of the broadest curriculums available in Scotland, as well as the opportunity for pupils to tailor their program to their strengths, interests, and future study or career goals. The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is also available as an option for some Sixth Form pupils. This choice is determined by the needs of the individual, permitting pupils to choose the right balance of subjects and extra-curricular activities to suit their commitments and ambitions. Pupils join Riley House, our Junior School, from lots of different backgrounds. We look closely at the needs of each individual and tailor classes to support the transition from their previous school. Courses are generally based on English Key Stages Two and Three. Our primary school teachers work alongside subject-specific teachers from the Senior School to provide a broad academic curriculum and prepare pupils for moving up into the Third Form. - A world-class, holistic education from Preschool to Year 13 that supports students to strive towards personal and academic success, in a nurturing and respectful environment. ACG Strathallan is proud to recently be ranked South Auckland’s top academic school and has all of our students achieve a 100% A Level pass rate in the Cambridge exams. But there is much more to us than just academics. In our stimulating, positive learning environments, our teachers steer students towards personal fulfillment and success by encouraging curiosity and questioning. This helps students understand and have a ‘light bulb moment in the learning space which can then be applied in and out of the classroom. As students progress through each year, our teachers ensure they’re supported to take on the appropriate level of responsibility and autonomy. This means younger students are given the support they need to grow and accelerate, and our senior students are equipped for a global world. With a purpose-built, creative, and stimulating play and learning area, our infant preschool caters to children from three months to two years. To maintain our high level of quality, care, and attention, we have a staff ratio of one teacher to four children. Young children are now encouraged to play, think, experiment, develop self-expression and curiosity. Language skills are developed alongside social skills. Our teachers are highly dedicated and we maintain a strict ratio of one staff member to nine children. Just as all children develop differently, it’s important to know if your child is ready for school. During this year, teachers prepare children with a range of activities to be ready for ‘big school’. With the benefit of the same strict ratio of one teacher to nine children, ACG Strathallan’s senior preschool prepares five-year-olds for more formal schooling, while still offering opportunities for self-expression and personal development. Our focus is on creating an exceptional learning environment where children grow and thrive. Your child’s development will be supported by excellent facilities, high-quality teachers, and a world-class curriculum. Academic and social skills are carefully nurtured and stretched by passionate, caring teachers. In new entrant and Year 1, classes are limited to a maximum of 20 students. This gives teachers time to help each child extend their learning in the crucial first years of school. We have a strong focus on literacy and numeracy, which are taught alongside specialist subjects like languages, music, art, physical education, and science. It’s about providing a holistic approach to education, which develops a range of skills and a life-long passion for learning. Our primary school’s facilities are designed to help our students develop intellectually, socially, and physically. Classrooms are clustered around spacious, sociable atriums, and children can play sports or hold performances in the large hall. Our grounds are also well equipped for specialist learning we have resource rooms, a library, a modern computer lab, and fit-for-purpose rooms for science, art, and music. We know outdoor activities, play and exercise are all part of a well-rounded education. The primary school has its own junior and senior adventure playgrounds and extensive fields for team games and other physical activities. At ACG Strathallan College, students have access to outstanding facilities, high-quality teachers, an international academic curriculum, and a pastoral care program that ensures personalized attention. We are committed to the development of the whole student, and encourage them to engage with school life. Students are offered the chance to participate in a diverse range of academic, sporting, cultural, and co-curricular pursuits. With these opportunities, they can explore and grow into their learning journey. With pastoral care alongside, students are elevated to do their best. We provide a future-focused, comprehensive education to inspire and encourage students to reach their full potential and goals. The subjects your child is offered in Years 7 to 10 make up a rich, well-balanced curriculum designed to stimulate technological and high-order thinking. The program includes English, Spanish, Mandarin, Science, Mathematics, Social Science, Art and Design, Music, Physical Education, Health, Drama, and IT – including design and computer coding. Most subjects in Years 11 to 13 build on the skills and knowledge your child has developed earlier in their schooling, giving them a greater depth of understanding. Other subjects will give your child the opportunity to explore new areas of study and acquire new skills. Junior college students take a balanced course of compulsory academic disciplines. With a strong emphasis on numeracy and literacy – including 40% of class time devoted to English and Mathematics – this gives students a solid foundation for successful future studies. English, Mathematics, and Science courses provide students in Years 7 to 9 with a seamless transition between the Cambridge International Primary Programme and the Cambridge International Examinations. At Year 10, students have the opportunity to take advanced classes in Mathematics, Combined Science, and Global Perspectives at the IGCSE level. Senior college students in Years 11 to 13 can choose from a range of subjects designed to prepare them effectively for university study and a future career. - Welcome to Hillfield Strathallan College, a community where children and their learning are at the forefront. Each child is known, challenged to do their best, and supported in that pursuit. We believe the best education for any child is achieved through a partnership between the school and the family, with the shared goal of helping students achieve their full potential. HSC consists of four small schools united by a joint commitment to a shared Mission and Ideals. We are committed to ensuring a balance between the development of student independence and guidance from a caring faculty, sensitive to the student's age and stage. We aim to develop students who ask great questions, are resilient problem-solvers, and are connected to the broader world. All students learn differently, and we make every effort to address individual learning needs and styles. Real learning occurs when the curriculum is meaningful and relevant, and we believe learning is not restricted to the classroom. Students who are most successful in university and beyond are those who are engaged fully in a rich program of co-curricular offerings, in addition to a reliable academic program. HSC students discover and follow their passions, whether they lie in academics, athletics, fine arts, outdoor education, or community service. Through shared experiences, the close-knit HSC community helps students bond with their classmates and teachers for life. Our core mission is to develop joyful and engaged students who live life with purpose. The best learning happens when students are happy to come to school, have opportunities to follow their passions, and participate in profound learning experiences that challenge them. Joyful, engaged students develop strong relationships with their peers and with the caring adults who spark and support their learning both inside the classroom and beyond. Their journey at HSC prepares students to live with the purpose to understand their world, inspire, lead, act, and make a difference in their unique ways. A unique element of our strategic plan renewal is all HSC students' engagement to define the values that should guide our College community. We believe that living these ideals positions community members to be well-rounded leaders with a sense of purpose. The chart below outlines the HSC Ideals developed by our students. In 1962, the two schools moved to their current location—a 50-acre campus on Fennell Avenue West on Hamilton Mountain. In 1999, an addition to the campus created the current Montessori School, the Virtue-Fitzgerald Theatre, and new music facilities. Most recently, in 2014, the College completed construction of the 134,000 sq. ft. Michael G. DeGroote Centre for Excellence. This edition includes the new Michael G. DeGroote Senior School (which opened in 2012) and an Athletic Complex with three large gymnasia, a multi-purpose athletics studio, change rooms, conditioning room, and significant bleacher seating. It also features state-of-the-art music and art rooms, a heated and covered alumni walkway, and an alumni lounge. Our Montessori program is personalized to meet each student's needs and cultivate the Montessori values of self-respect, self-discipline, moral development, respect for others, empathy, and peacefulness. Through experience with Montessori materials, students make purposeful learning choices that lead to independence and self-motivation. We are CCMA Accredited, upholding the highest standards of authentic Montessori education. We offer a program that serves 18 months to 9 years old. Our uniquely trained Montessori faculty members implement strategies that guide the students in their lifelong educational journey. The Junior School welcomes students to open-concept classrooms, interactive learning, and the feel of a small country school, with the resources of a much larger college. At HSC, the Junior School embodies balance in everyday life. Both teachers and students direct activities, routines are co-created, and each student's passions guide the curriculum. We value our students' needs and adapt our programming to meet those needs. The Junior School incorporates strategies that have been researched and developed by some of the world's top educational leaders. It boasts a highly motivated and educated team of teachers and professional resources. Developing our students into global citizens begins in the Junior School classroom. Through programming, school activities, and the whole College's support, students gain a definite sense of community. Parent involvement is strongly encouraged through classroom volunteering and participation in the many activities the Junior School offers. HSC Middle School students in Grades 5 through 8 discover who they are and what they love in a positive and supportive atmosphere. Committed teachers provide support and guidance to forge meaningful connections with each student navigating the transition from childhood into young adulthood. We understand that each student learns differently. To support their diverse learning styles, we deliver a program that inspires a lifelong passion for learning. Our Middle School curriculum exceeds Ministry of Education benchmarks and allows for the flexibility needed to design individualized programs. Participation in our dynamic co-curricular activities engages students in the College's daily life, develops time management skills, and offers opportunities to explore interests. We believe that involvement in these activities builds well-rounded students and requires students to participate twice a week. When young adults open their minds to the global community's diverse and evolving possibilities and take ownership of the educational pathways leading them into their futures, from day one, we nurture and support students as they make important life decisions and chart their futures. The challenges and triumphs students encounter in our Senior School help ensure they are well-equipped to explore and embrace the broader academic, social, and co-curricular decisions they make for their lives. Our Senior School's academic program offers a wide range of learning opportunities in a multitude of disciplines. With a selection of over 110 courses, we provide opportunities for students to design an academic program tailored to their interests and geared towards making choices that open the right doors for their future.
