  1. USP shall Produce World-Class Graduates and Relevant Research and Extension through Quality Education and Sustainable Resource Management. By becoming a premier university in the ASEAN Region, the USP shall be a center of excellence and development, responsive and adaptive to fast-changing environments. USP shall also be known as the leading University in the country that fosters innovation and applies knowledge to create value towards social, economic, and technological developments. The University, which sees the University's continued implementation of the University's decentralization policies under established policy guidelines, has resulted in more effective and efficient units. The Evening Program implemented through BOR Resolution No. 2732 accommodates students who could not make it in the regular day program, however, with some variation in fees. Also, the Summer Program has been approved. By the year 2001, the total number of curriculum offerings was 31 for the Graduate School and 28 for the Undergraduate Program. Beginning in 2002, the Office of the President under the administration of Dr. Julieta I. Ortiz identified and pursued Program Accreditation as one of the University's significant thrusts. Hence in the same year, three programs were awarded Level I status by AACCUP. These were BSED of USP Tagum and Obrero, BEED of Obrero, and Forestry and Agricultural Engineering of Tagum. Today, 16 of its undergraduate programs are accredited. Now in its 38th year, the University has all the reasons to be proud of its achievements in instruction, research, extension, production, and administration. Within this period, the University is establishing a niche as a center for academic excellence in Mindanao – a reputation it has acquired through persistence and constancy of purpose in the pursuit of quality and excellence in all its undertakings. The University of Southeastern Philippines had made and will continue to make the performance as a yardstick to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of its distantly located but diversely-rich university network of campuses. It has been almost 27 years since the passage of Batas Pambansa Blog. 12. The failures and the successes of more than two-and-a-half decades of operations in the areas of instruction, research, extension, and administration have immensely contributed to what the University of Southeastern Philippines is now. This is USP today. In the sphere of instruction, existing academic policies and curriculum offerings of the different colleges and campuses of the USP are aligned with the demands of the market and the economy. To date, USP is offering 56 academic programs (two for Doctoral degrees, 27 for Masteral degrees, and 27 for Baccalaureate programs) in the fields of Engineering, Education, Arts and Sciences, Economics, Computing, Governance, Development, Resources Management, Technology, Agriculture and Forestry. Enthused by the noble undertaking of imparting quality education through its commitment to maintaining a high level of quality standards, the University of Southeastern Philippines has continued to submit to accreditation voluntarily. At present, many of the academic programs offered in the University have attained Accredited Status by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP): USeP-Tagum's Agricultural Technology, Elementary Teacher Education, Forestry and Agricultural Engineering are Level II while USeP-Mabini's Extension Education, Agriculture and Agricultural Teacher Education and USP Obrero's Biology, Industrial Technology, Computer Technology, Technology Education, Elementary Teacher Education, Secondary Teacher Education, Industrial Technology and Electrical Engineering are Level I. To fulfill its vision to become a modern state university at the cutting edge of academic excellence and the forefront of research and development, the University demands excellence from its teaching force. The majority of 54 percent of the faculty members have Master's degrees, 29 percent have Bachelor's degrees, while the remaining 17 percent possess Doctoral degrees. The outstanding performance manifested by USP Engineering graduates during board examinations instigated the Commission on Higher Education's (CHED) to declare USP as a Center of Development in Engineering, specifically in Electrical Engineering (EE) and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). Also, its alumni's quality of performance in the different government, non-government and private organizations and companies have brought into USP various scholarships from congress members, senators, and private individuals and companies for USP students and faculty. In order to contribute markedly to the maximized use of Mindanao's potential resources towards the well being of its people, the Research Division of the University has always worked for responsive research and development projects relevant to the University's academic programs, including food productivity and sustainability, technology, industrial fields, nutrition, health, and resources management. Also, USP is now the base agency of Southern Mindanao Agriculture and Resources Research and Development Consortium (SMARRDEC), a 19-member consortium of line agencies and research institutions in agriculture agri-related research and development. Similarly, the Extension Division has incessantly undertaken programs and outreach services in the communities through agriculture and fishery projects, capability-building programs, computer literacy, education, livelihood videotape showing, household skills training, etc. Realizing that endeavors would be best met through convergence and partnerships, the University has explored means to establish linkages. To date, the University of Southeastern Philippines has inked partnerships with World Bank, Philippines-Australia Basic Education Assistance for Mindanao, Southeast Asian Ministries of Education Organization, Regional Center for Vocational and Technical Education and Training in Brunei Darussalam (SEAMEO VOCTECH), Philippines-Australia Human Resource Development Facility, Department of Education, Department of Agriculture, Department of Science and Technology, PhilRice, National Computer Center, Department of Energy, National Commission for Culture and the Arts, Resources for the Blind, Inc., SMART Philippines, SMARRDEC, Southern Mindanao Industry, Energy, Research and Development Consortium (SMIERDEC), DARUMA Tech, Inc., PCAMMRD, Mindanao Studies Consortium, Davao City Colleges and Universities Network (DACUN), and MSTPC. Today, new centers that are meant to be strategic growth points for USP have been established. These are the Teacher Training Center for Region XI (Mindanao), the Mindanao eLearning Space (a project with DepEd and BEAM), the Science and Technology Learning Resource Center, the Regional Trades and Crafts Training and Production Center, the Knowledge for Development Center (with World Bank) and the Lifelong Study Center. With USP avidly pursuing its USP-Strategic Institutional Repositioning Project, the USEP community and stakeholders are optimistic that the University will effectively fulfill its mission in this part of the country. The University of Southeastern Philippines (USP) became operational in 1979, integrating the four state institutions in the region: the Mindanao State University-Davao Branch (MSUDB), the University of the Philippines Master of Management Program in Davao (UPMMPD), the Davao School of Arts and Trades (DSAT) and the Davao National Regional Agricultural School (DNRAS). The integration of these institutions paved the way for the birth of the five USP campuses, namely: the Davao City main campus in Obrero with an area of 6.5 hectares, the Mental campus, Davao City that has an area of 2.8 hectares, the Tagum campus, Tagum City with a 77-hectare land area the Mabini campus which lies in a 109-hectare land area in Mampising, Mabini, Compostela Valley Province and the latest addition, Bislig campus in Bislig City, Surigao del Sur with an area of 9.7 hectares. The early years saw the College of Engineering and Technology's birth in Obrero campus, the College of Forestry and Agriculture at Tagum and Mabini campuses, and the College of Arts and Sciences on Mental campus. The succeeding years witnessed developments in the academic and administrative realms of USP. In 1993, through a Board of Regents (BOR) resolution, External Studies Programs were established. These were: USP-Hinatuan, Ext. Program in Surigao del Sur USP-Baganga External Studies Program in Davao Oriental USP-Kapalong College of Agricultural Technology and Entrepreneurship and USP-Pantukan External Studies Program. In 1996, the USP-Bislig campus in Surigao del Sur was established. PICOP waived nine hectares of Barangay Maharlika, Bislig, for the initial campus. From 1993 to 1997, new units were created. Among them were Mindanao Center for Policy Studies (MCPS), Affiliated Non-Conventional Energy Center (ANEC) for Region XI Office of Admission and Student Records (OASR), Medical Division Institute of Urban Finance and Management University Testing and Guidance Office (UGTO) Project Implementation Unit (PIU) Institute of Computing (IC) and Center for Professional Board of Review for Teachers. During the years of its growth, the Board of Regents has continued streamlining the administrative and organizational structure of the University to make it more responsive to changing needs and enable the University to engage more in research and extension.

  3. In pursuit of defining the Nova Southeastern University of tomorrow, President George L. Hanbury II, Ph.D., collaborated with faculty members, deans, staff, alumni, student leaders, community members, and the board trustees to create a single-shared vision based on eight core values. The Vision 2020, Mission, and Core Values will collectively guide NSU into the future. By 2020, through excellence and innovations in teaching, research, service, and learning, Nova Southeastern University will be recognized by accrediting agencies, the academic community, and the general public as a premier, private, not-for-profit university of quality and distinction that engages all students and produces alumni who serve with integrity in their lives, fields of study, and resulting careers. The Mission of Nova Southeastern University, a private, not-for-profit institution, is to offer a diverse array of innovative academic programs that complement on-campus educational opportunities and resources with free distance learning programs to foster academic excellence, intellectual inquiry, leadership, research, and commitment to the community through engagement of students and faculty members in a dynamic, life-long learning environment. The heart and soul of NSU is our academic power. The university has earned national and international reputations for the quality of its more than 150-degree programs. Few other universities span NSU's range of education on a single campus—from an award-winning early childhood education center to a respected college prep school, from innovative undergraduate degree programs to master's and doctoral programs in law, medicine, nursing, dentistry, business, oceanography, psychology, education, computer and information sciences, and more. All of this academic power is brought to you by exceptional, always-accessible faculty members who are committed to your success. They maintain an open-door policy when it comes to helping you. The support NSU gives them to teach in new ways—in and out of the classroom and research lab—means that you are on an academic exploration, always grounded in real-world experience and focused on outcomes. Classes are small, so your professors get to know you, your strengths, and the areas where you may need a little extra help. And since our faculty members are active in their fields, both in research and with professional connections, you will learn from the people who not only know the real world; they are helping to shape it. Life on campus at Nova Southeastern University is like nothing you have ever experienced. You will be amazed at the many things we have to offer, like modern and comfortable dorm rooms, the fantastic Don Taft University Center, NCAA Division II sports, an abundance of student activities, convenient on-campus dining, hangouts like Starbucks and Einstein Bagels, plus a close-knit campus community where people welcome you with open arms. You get all this, plus the sunny, South Florida lifestyle, which means you will be able to enjoy everything the great outdoors has to offer. Of course, you're only a 15-minute drive from the beach. But there is always something to do on campus, too - like the annual Anything That Floats Raft Race, Community Fest, homecoming week activities, and Shark sporting events. It is said that a college is a place for self-discovery. And that is fine for most colleges. But, NSU is more than a place for students to find themselves. Because so many of our students know where they are headed, this is a place where they unleash their potential. This is a place where they become leaders. There is no question about a clear path to success. The school that got its start with 17 students knows a little something about ambition. We are grounded in the real world with internships, discoveries, research, values, answers, and clarity. Nova Southeastern was founded in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, during historical social and cultural change. Looking back, 1964 was the perfect time for a small university with a handful of students and some revolutionary ideas to take shape. They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And if it were not for a group of businessmen who met regularly for this meal, Nova Southeastern University might not be here today. Known as The Oatmeal Club, these civic-minded pioneers gathered in the early '60s, determined to develop an innovative educational concept—an MIT of the South, with a twist. Today, NSU is classified as a research university with "high research activity" by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching; NSU is 1 of only 50 universities nationwide also to be awarded Carnegie's Community Engagement Classification and is also the largest private, not-for-profit institution in the United States that meets the U.S. Department of Education's criteria as a Hispanic-serving Institution. NSU has campuses in Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Jacksonville, Miami, Miramar, Orlando, Palm Beach, Tampa, Florida, and San Juan, Puerto Rico. NSU has always had an innovative, unique approach to education. NSU offers a personal, nurturing atmosphere. But NSU is also an exciting university – young, bold, and forward-thinking. With so many traditional and non-traditional learning opportunities, NSU is the ideal place to reach your potential. View full university
  4. Southeastern Baptist College is the College for you. Many people believe that a Bible college is only for those in full-time Christian vocations, such as pastors. The truth is that a Bible college is similar in many ways to any other college. Southeastern offers an excellent two-year curriculum for those who would like to begin their college career in a Christian atmosphere. These students can then transfer their credits to a senior college or university to continue their studies in a more specialized field. Yes, in the subjects offered, the campus experience and academic excellence, a Bible college is similar to any other college; however, how we are different set us apart from other colleges. The smaller student population, personal attention, a Christian atmosphere inside and outside the classroom, and the pleasure of being someone special on campus make the Southeastern experience a time to cherish for the rest of your life. We've been helping students for many years, and we are committed to helping you find the resources needed to complete your degree. The Learning Center was established to support the assessment and development of necessary English, reading, and mathematics skills. The Learning Center is part of a comprehensive University effort designed to support quality educational experiences for students. The Learning Center is responsible for assessing and placing new students who may be academically at risk. The Learning Center offers support in students' necessary skills through a multi-faceted basic literacy program tailored to meet diverse student needs. Competency-based education, individual learning styles, self-paced learning, and different preparedness levels are essential considerations in the program. A federal grant fully funds student Support Services (SSS) through the U.S. Department of Education and the TRiO program. Southeastern Oklahoma State University's SSS program is one of over 1200 programs across the country. SSS helps eligible students complete their post-secondary education by providing a foundation for overcoming academic, personal, and cultural barriers to higher education. By fostering a highly personalized (one-on-one) environment, SSS staff strives to build professional and personal relationships with students to assess their individual needs carefully and offer appropriate academic, personal, and career support. The University is linked by tradition to the geographic region of southeastern Oklahoma and north-central Texas. Although new programs have produced many changes in the geographic origin and the ethnic backgrounds of the student body, they are still primarily products of small towns and rural communities in Oklahoma and Texas. The present student body numbers approximately 4,000. Students are served at eight different locations, including a branch campus in McCurtain County. View full university
