Mejiro University was established in 1994 as the fourth institution of learning in the Mejiro Gakuen Educational Foundation. Since that time, it has undergone rapid growth and bold changes. It has evolved into a comprehensive university featuring six faculties and 16 departments and a graduate school composed of seven research schools. The university has two campuses, the "humanities-oriented Shinjuku campus" and the "health science and nursing-oriented Saitama Iwatsuki campus," each of which provides an outstanding education. With a constant grasp on the needs of the times and striving to "educate and send out" people which the world needs, Mejiro University continues to press forward. Mejiro University has thus far shown rapid growth. The schools practice a unique brand of education that includes creating new educational sectors, close relationships between teachers and students, and other aspects that distinguish it from traditional, large institutions. Remaining highly responsive to the day's trends, Mejiro University and Mejiro University College continue to advance along the road to further improvements, never to be satisfied with the present situation and prepared to make ground-breaking changes. At Mejiro University, education is offered mainly focused on the humanities at the Shinjuku campus and the health sciences and nursing at the Saitama Iwatsuki campus. The university continues proactively working to improve its unique educational strengths to make the most of the close relationships between its students and teachers, which brings out and stretches each student's capabilities while handling challenges in new educational sectors to cultivate and send out the human resources society demands. With the Department of Living Science, which boasts a tradition of 50 years at its core, Mejiro University College continues to grow steadily, responding to society's needs as well as young women's interests. The college uses small-group education to develop young women with the right balance of a broad education combined with specialist knowledge and techniques. Furthermore, this marks the eighth year since Mejiro Kenshin Junior and Senior High School, which was founded simultaneously as Mejiro Gakuen, became a coeducational school. It strives to enhance and deepen the English language education and international understanding education offered from when it was an all-girls school. The school is also deeply committed to developing new activities utilizing a coeducational school's advantages and nurturing a lively school atmosphere. The conditions of the society surrounding Mejiro Gakuen are expected to change even more rapidly and grow increasingly complex. Under such circumstances, Mejiro Gakuen will continue its efforts so that the young people enrolled will be able to learn the unyielding spirit of the institution "Shu," "Shi," and "Shin," set forth by the founder (that is, the spirit of "contributing to the country and society, having a passionate devotion to studying, and expressing gratitude toward the people who provide support for one's life") and acquire the motivation and capability required to survive the difficult times that they will face in the future. The various research institutes and centers affiliated with Mejiro University are established to contribute to the education of the university's students as well as the research they conduct, while at the same time playing a role in presenting to the outside world the research results obtained at the school. Kogakuin University was initially founded in 1887 as Koshu Gakko by Koki Watanabe. It was the first private engineering school established in Japan to train engineers who would be prepared to work on the front lines of the industries needed to promote Japan's modernization. At present, Kogakuin University has 147 laboratories, which creates products, investigates structures of products, images shape of products, etc. The laboratories consist of a variety of themes in vast fields, from basic to applied study. On top of that, with having small-group guidance, sometimes you can have a one-to-one discussion with the professor.
