Kogakuin University was initially founded in 1887 as Koshu Gakko by Koki Watanabe. It was the first private engineering school established in Japan to train engineers who would be prepared to work on the front lines of the industries needed to promote Japan's modernization. This initial vision of cultivating engineers who are work-ready for the industrial world remains intact at the university to this day. At present, Kogakuin University has 147 laboratories, which creates products, investigates structures of products, images shape of products, etc. The laboratories consist of a variety of themes in vast fields, from basic to applied study. The advantage of having large numbers of laboratories is you can research the subject you wish. On top of that, with having small-group guidance, sometimes you can have a one-to-one discussion with the professor.
