      1. Founded in 1946, SBS was established to provide a place of biblical instruction and learning where students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade could grow academically, spiritually, physically, and socially. Seventy-one years later, we continue to do just that. Second Baptist School is a Christian, college-preparatory school pursuing excellence for the honor of Jesus Christ---a gospel-centered community preparing tomorrow’s leaders for global impact. Our dedicated faculty and staff are committed to high achievement in academics, arts, and athletics. While our academics and extracurricular activities are healthy, it is our community of faith that is even stronger--filled with life, unlike anything you have experienced. Undoubtedly, the relationships formed at SBS last through decades and strengthen the community we love so dearly. At SBS, your child will be known individually by faculty that loves God and cares deeply about each other and their students. We believe that a child’s gifts must be nurtured in a compassionate environment, allowing them to take risks and be challenged to reach higher than ever thought possible. Upon graduation, we expect your child to possess the character, knowledge, and skills to succeed in a digitally-based global society. Second Baptist students are prepared to think deeply, judge wisely, and live courageously on the convictions of biblical truths as they engage the world around them. Our passion is to bring every student into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ while equipping them with excellence that God has called them to do. At every school level, Second Baptist School students are engaged in technology to expand their learning. Starting in pre-kindergarten, students attend technology class to learn necessary skills and use technology tools such as iPads and laptops in the day-to-day classroom curriculum. Through these technology tools, our students become engaged in 21st-century skills while expanding their understanding of classroom content. Through this style of student-centered learning, school is transformed from a lecture-style class to an open discussion. Students are in control of their education, as they are encouraged to ask questions, share opinions, and listen attentively to their peers around the round Harkness table. The middle school experience at Second Baptist School is full of growth opportunities. Each grade level curriculum is designed to meet students and help them grow spiritually, emotionally, and academically. Our upper school challenges and engages students daily through rigorous, college-preparatory, and Christ-centered instruction across all subjects and disciplines. We remain committed to ensuring that all of our students can determine their passions while also equipping them to attain their goals with the support of our talented and dedicated faculty. We seek to bring all of our students into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ so that they may pursue with the utmost excellence all that God has called them to do. Students who hope to understand clearly, think deeply, and judge wisely while seeking to grow in their faith, will find a home, a purpose, and a close-knit community in the upper school at SBS.
