- Cefn Season is a popular and well-established school whose aim is to expect and celebrate our many successes. We are very proud to serve the communities of Cimla, Tonmawr, Pontrhydyfen, Tonna, and parts of Neath, and we welcome preferred placements from outside our main catchment area. Our academic success and extra-curricular opportunities are well documented. The percentage of pupils achieving at least five good GCSEs including English and Mathematics was 72% last year, our best results ever by 6%. This is well above the National Average and puts our school in the Top Quartile for this important measure. We are also in the Top Quartile for English 87% and Mathematics 73%. There were excellent results across the school, both at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 3. However, we are not just about academic success a look through our website will show that we are equally proud of our achievements in sport, music, and drama and with our public performances highlighting sector-leading practice. We also have a long tradition of raising money and supporting good causes both locally and globally. We encourage and celebrate personal endeavor and attainment throughout the daily life of the school and, of course, on special occasions such as our Annual Achievement Evening. Our students are encouraged to display a sense of responsibility and respect for others by making the right choices. We also feel that it is important to promote the traditional values of discipline hard work and helping others. Our success is attributed to many factors, but in particular, the hard work of dedicated staff and pupils, and the excellent relationships fostered by all concerned. A regular program of parents’ evenings, open evenings enhance our close partnership with our wider community. A group of our More Able and Talented pupils are busily producing the first of our Video Blogs so they can tell you about the many things we do. The transfer from Primary to Secondary school is an exciting and challenging time in the lives of young people and their parents. We hope that the prospectus, our open evening, and an induction day will make that transition as smooth and successful as possible.
