  1. RSREU (up to 1993 Ryazan State Radio Engineering Institute) was founded in 1951. It is located in Ryazan, an ancient Russian town situated on the bank of the Oka-river, 180 kilometers south-east from Moscow. The town has a rich history and is famous for its cultural traditions. The University ranks high among the leading educational institutions in Russia. Since its foundation, the University has trained more than 50 000 specialists. Presently more than 6 500 students are enrolled at the University. The University is a large specialized academic and research center which consists of 5 full-time departments: Radio Engineering and Telecommunication, Electronics, Automation and Information Technologies in Management, Computer Science, Engineering and Economics. The University trains engineers, economists, managers. Bachelor's (23 programs), Specialists, and Master's (13 programs) degrees earned here make a strong basis for future career building. The University is equipped with up to date academic and research facilities. Educational television, cinema, audiovisual technologies, computer-aided design systems, information technologies, etc., are widely used in the educational process. Our international graduates take perspective and well-paid positions all over the world. The University has its own geographically distributed high-speed corporate network Extranet, including more than 2000 computers located in different buildings and hostels of the University. Internet and Intranet - sites of the University, digital library, and other information resources are also functioning. The University has access to global networks (Internet and Runet) through fiberoptic wire telecommunication channel and uplink. The University possesses all the necessary facilities to provide an effective process of study. Meeting students upon their arrival at Moscow airports is also possible on a paid basis. In RSREU heterogeneous, territorially-distributed corporate information system was formed, which has access to the global Internet and RunNet, covering all buildings and hostels of the University, used by over 7000 users - students, teachers, staff. The information system provides regular quick access for staff and students to local and global information resources, modern software and application programs and technologies, computing and telecommunications, and liquid program and information resources for the University. Informatization of the University is supported by the Office of Telecommunications and Information Resources, the Center of New Information Technologies, Information and Computing Center, Multimedia center of technical training aids, Center of Information Services. Created, implemented, and widely used automated software and information systems of management are created, implemented, and widely used in the University's subdivision. The University's website is designed, operated, and continually updated(more than 2 million visits per year). Electronic document circulation is implemented. At the beginning of 1952, we learned that the government's decree organized the Radio Engineering University. This news was taken in with great interest, especially among the youth. The Institute allowed getting higher education in new engineering fields with an exciting and creative job. At this time, the construction of electronic devices and accounting machines factories was coming to an end. Based on the woodworking factory, radio engineering was organized. Any of them got a hunger for knowledge and desire to stand the pace. Unselfish and welcoming mutual help was a standard of the relationship. Some difficulties in the studying process emerged because we did not have senior food courses, experience, traditions, examples of theses, projects, and home works. We had to reach much on our own. Despite this fact, we studied not bad, and some of our works in the future found itself useful to younger colleagues.
  2. The University is among the initiators and active participants of the regional Equipment Building cluster, involving the scientific and industrial complex's leading businesses. The 28 leading research directions in the RSU include the following directions as priority ones: kinetic effects and mechanisms of electron relaxation in nanostructures electron physics co-ordination of chiral amino-phosphites modeling, analysis, and optimization of computing systems based on neural processors, and others. Development of a multifunctional programming platform for neural processors and systems, "NP Studio." Study of construction and technological principles in designing complicated component shapes via 3-dimensional modeling in additive manufacturing. Design and academic implementation of the model and technology of life-long education in professional training systems (including secondary school, higher school, and postgraduate education) in engineering and technical training (educational direction of "New industrial technologies"). Resource-saving and solar-powered technologies and equipment, pure materials for nano-electronics. Physical processes in heterogeneous structures. Analytical equipment design and diagnostics of nanostructures and substance tracing. Participation in the "Photonics" technology platform – association aimed at economic modernization and innovative development of Russia Membership in the European Consortium of universities TEMPUS IV aimed at training educators for work with heterogeneous groups Participation in the EC "Erasmus+" mobility program Convention of over 40 conferences per year (regional, national and international) levels) Organization of the "RGU. Science" Festival (over 4,000 visitors annually) Intel "STEM Centre" as an event of the "RGU. Science" Festival, to promote scientific research among university and school students Foundation of 6 scientific journals (4 of them are certified by the Higher Attestation Commission of Russia) In the year 2014, the RSU Confucius Institute was the only such institution in Russia to enter the 25 Top Confucius Institutes worldwide Study of optical characteristics of heterogeneous structures: porous silicon and single-crystalline silicon. Design and synthesis of completely novel phosphite ligands. Development of meteoroid risk models in near-earth space. Research of fauna, Environmental ecology, Monitoring of biological diversity in areas subjected to emissions from industrial enterprises.Regeneration patterns for soil-inhabiting invertebrate animals in post-fire areas.

Medical activity is one of the main focus areas of the University. Traditional methods of learning by examining patients are combined with modern educational technologies. At the moment, clinical sites of the University are equipped with roentgen, angiographic, tomographic diagnostic units, a powerful laboratory branch, a division of medical genetics, a branch of functional, endoscopic, and ultrasound diagnostics. The University contributes to practical healthcare with the laboratory-diagnostic complex's research work based on the Central scientific-research laboratory. The laboratory has unique equipment and highly qualified personnel. The results of the researches conducted in this laboratory are essential for patient diagnostics and treatment. There is a program for improving University teachers` and students` health. According to this program, students have annual medical checks and all the employees –fluorography examinations. Realizing personal creative potential helps cultivate in students such traits of character as justice, kindness, and passion about their work. Transmitting cultural heritage and creating a scholarly society have become goals of higher education. Being developed in an environment based on humanistic values is essential for a doctor-to-be. Taking into consideration all the above, the University sets itself the following objectives: To develop universal human values and the feeling of civil responsibility in students, to teach them to be tolerant To discover the creative potential of every student, to motivate them to take the initiative, to create conditions for a healthy lifestyle and physical education To develop a positive attitude to labor, enable students to socialize and adapt in the labor market, teach to respect the law, and estimate their behavior objectively.
