  1. Right from the start, the University of La Rochelle has had an international focus. The ever-increasing number of international students coming here, either as part of an exchange program or private capacity, is a good indication that this policy is a success. The University of La Rochelle is young and dynamic. It is an integral part of the local economic and cultural environment and contributes to this area's development. Students adapt rapidly to their new life here because it is a welcoming and friendly place to study, and its lovely seaside location makes settling in even more comfortable. This English language version of the website will give you a first impression of our University and information on the services we have to offer. Since its creation, the University of La Rochelle has confirmed its international dimension by setting up and developing its curricula in the context of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and by concentrating its resources on two main priorities: Asia-Pacific and the Americas. Today, thanks to this presentation on the international scene, 140 European and international agreements have been signed. The University participates in various European programs related to training and research. In the institutional network CREPUQ (University Presidents Conference in Quebec), it is also a member of the AUF (National Agency of Francophonie) and the Campus France agency. The University of La Rochelle participates in a cooperation program with other Universities in France. This helps raise its profile, leads to development through shared experiences, strengthens its teaching and scientific policies, and leads to innovation, notably in information technologies. 2. EIGSI La Rochelle is heir to one of the four private Parisian Engineering Grandes Ecoles from the start of the 20th century: the Ecole d’Electricité et de Mécanique Industrielle (EEMI – école Violet) created in Paris in 1901. Commission-Titres-IngenieurEIGSI is certified to award the title of graduate Engineer by the CTI for a maximum period of six years. In 2012, EIGSI formed a partnership with CFA-EIA and opened an apprenticeship engineering training section certified by the CTI in May 2012. The school’s missions cover three dimensions: training, research, and innovation, which may be represented as a triangle, or as two foundations, with research and innovation contributing to reinforcing engineer training excellence. Research and innovation have several beneficial effects: they guarantee the standard of knowledge transmitted to students by the research professors who find themselves up against the very best international standards in their discipline. Also, they offer students excellent training grounds. Learning about the process of innovation is a critical element of our training program. Creativity and innovation are taught in various forms (module on introduction to research methods, Innovation & Entrepreneurship projects in the 4th and fifth years). By participating in research activities, trainee engineers develop their taste for research and their ability to be bold and act on innovation. EIGSI La Rochelle is a school that offers a 5-year course in general engineering. The training program aims to reconcile learning about engineering techniques with knowledge of the industrial world to enable graduates to adapt to their professional environment changes. The school currently has 800 students, 65 permanent staff members, and 300 occasional contributors from education and business. EIGSI La Rochelle provides high added value general scientific and technical training, with a significant dimension accorded to training in human skills and international openness, good relations with companies, and the support of research and innovation which feeds into the theoretical basis to generate training which is always at the cutting-edge of the discipline. Balance and progressive learning are critical factors in academics at EIGSI. This phase in the course guides the student’s career and offers knowledge of the professional world. The major represents 2/3 of lessons over the last two years of the course. The student outlines the career of his choice. The choice of major he makes is the result of a gradual reflection. EIGSI La Rochelle offers study programs that develop cross-cutting expertise to train general system engineers. Thus, in addition to focusing on knowledge, expertise, and people skills, we also teach students to engage in relational leadership. The courses offered have several training goals, in particular. EIGSI places great importance on work placements (a minimum of 44 weeks in 5 years). In parallel, one of EIGSI’s key focuses is “project culture. “ Indirect contact with companies’ real problems, students participate in more than a dozen projects. These are designed to apply their project management skills, cement their scientific and technical skills, and develop new ones. These projects entail compliance with specifications, a budget, and time constraints. Furthermore, the collaborative work required in project mode participates fully in listening, observation, and group leadership skills. Since 2012, in partnership with CFA-EIA, EIGSI has offered an apprenticeship general engineering training course that combines a major in “Information Systems and Supply Chain Management.” This course enables apprentices to define their professional projects in the logistics chain and information system professions. The three-year course is based on a regular rhythm of school-business training. Open to holders of a scientific and technical 2-year post-baccalaureate qualification, this course welcomes 24 apprentices in EIGSI-3, the first year of the engineering cycle. Thanks to EIGSI’s network of partner companies, they are received by companies such as Aerazur, Airbus, Alstom, Eads-Sogerma, Esterline, Valeo, Innovia, Delphi, Devoteam, Vuitton, etc. EIGSI, Engineering School, has a rich history dating back more than 110 years, combining academics, tradition, innovation, and human adventure. Founded in 1901 in Paris, EIGSI is one of France’s oldest private engineering schools. Since its foundation, it has graduated more than 7800 engineers. In 1901, it was initially being called EEMI, the School of Industrial Electricity and Mechanics. EEMI quickly emerged as a leading engineering school in electrical and mechanical engineering. EEMI was known as an innovation center, training creative, innovative engineers at the forefront of technical and scientific progress. The first graduates of the school included modern-day adventurers who, driven by their passion for engineering, embarked on the exciting new aviation adventure. Géo Chavez, a Peruvian origin student, beat two records in a row in 1910: the highest altitude flew (2,652 meters) and the air crossing of the Alps. And Roger Baptiste, a test pilot in the 1930s, flew many prototype flights. EEMI lost many men during the two world wars but continued to grow and achieve great fame under the name of Ecole Violet, due to its location on rue Violet in Paris. In 1990, EEMI became EIGSI and moved to La Rochelle. A new place, a new campus, and a new challenge for this celebrated general engineering school. View full university

  5. In 2001, a visionary group of leaders in Chicago set out to create a new high school that would combine the very best of the humanities, sciences, fine arts, and Jewish studies. They envisioned a place where students attending day schools could continue their Jewish education during the years that significantly impacted their Jewish identity. These leaders foresaw a place where public school students entering high school could deepen their understanding and appreciation of their Jewish heritage. Since the beginning, Rochelle Zell has earned a national reputation for its commitment to academic excellence. Every year, more Chicago-area families are discovering how Rochelle Zell's outstanding faculty, integrated general and Judaic studies curriculum, vibrant community, and exciting student life provides Jewish high school students with a unique opportunity to achieve their full potential. Rochelle Zell Jewish High School admits students of any race, color, nationality, sexual orientation, gender identity, or ethnic origin, grants them the rights and offers them privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to all students at the school. It does not discriminate based on race, color, nationality, sexual identity, gender identity, or ethnic origin in administering its educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletics or other school-administered programs. Guidelines of the Conservative Movement are observed. Rochelle Zell Jewish High School first opened its doors in 2001 as Chicagoland Jewish High School, featuring a pioneer class of 26 students in rented space at Northwest Suburban Jewish Congregation in Morton Grove. In our 16th year, we are firmly established in our permanent Deerfield home, where 179 students come to us each day from over 22 communities in the Chicago area and beyond. As we have grown in size, so too has the reputation that Rochelle Zell has established for the excellence of its students, its faculty, and its rich program of Jewish and general studies, extra-curricular activities, and athletics. But even as we have grown, certain fundamentals remain unchanged – the warmth and intimacy of our community, the close and caring relationships between teachers and students, and our commitment to each student's intellectual, spiritual, and ethical growth. Our students' journeys are personal ones, to be sure, yet they are framed by our Jewish traditions and values' cumulative wisdom and experience. Students at Rochelle Zell do not merely absorb the wisdom of others. They acquire their wisdom. As our students work to define their faith, their identities, their connection to communities of purpose, and their place in the world, they construct personal blueprints for living Judaism as responsible and involved citizens in the modern world. Over 425 students have graduated from our school over the years, and they are now making their mark on their colleges and universities of choice and in the world beyond. Time and again, colleges that have accepted their first Rochelle Zell alumni reach out to us and ask whether there are any other students like the ones we sent their way. As our alumni community grows, we are gratified to discover that they are proud of and grateful for the many ways Rochelle Zell Jewish High School has prepared them to tackle the new challenges they face as independent young adults. Rochelle Zell Jewish High School creates a culture of academic excellence that inspires our students to think critically and achieve their full potential while preparing them to live Judaism as responsible and involved citizens in the modern world. The creation of the State of Israel is one of the seminal events in Jewish history. Recognizing the significance of the State and its national institutions, we seek to instill in our students an attachment to the State of Israel and its people and a sense of responsibility for their welfare. General and Jewish studies are of equal importance and are usually reinforcing. Rochelle Zell integrates the wisdom of our heritage and values with the sciences, humanities, and arts. The learning environment emphasizes creativity and critical thinking in both general and Jewish studies classes. The ability to question is embraced and valued. Students take general studies classes with their grade-level peers. Jewish studies classes are tracked by the Hebrew language level and ability to interpret texts. Rochelle Zell Jewish High School makes Talmud/Torah study accessible to all students by offering classes instructed in Hebrew and English. Jewish studies at Rochelle Zell have a track for students from a Jewish day school background and a track for those who have attended public school. View full school
