We are a Church of England Academy for students aged between 11 - 18 years. We hope that this website will provide a brief insight into our school and a flavor of the Christian Learning Community that is Bishop Ramsey. Our School is a thriving and vibrant community of 1250 students and 175 staff. Over 300 of our students are in the Sixth Form. We achieve well in public examinations and also when value-added measures are used. Our driving force is the Christian view of Hope. It underpins all our work. Our School community is founded on a belief that God made us, God loves us, God has redeemed his world, and invites and encourages us to share his work in doing good in the world. This is summarised in the words from St Julian of Norwich, which look down on our Atrium "All manner of thing shall be well". The School has a rich cultural life, with regular Art Exhibitions, Concerts, and Productions. We also field teams in Football, Rugby, Basketball, Hockey, Netball, Cricket, Cross Country, and Athletics. Bishop Ramsey is the founding member of Veritas Educational Trust. The Trust is currently working to open a sister school to Bishop Ramsey, also in the north of the London Borough of Hillingdon. The new school will be called Bishop Arden and will share Bishop Ramsey's ethos and mission. Bishop Ramsey's success in many fields is a reflection of our determination to live out the aspirations in our Mission Statement. Governors, staff, parents and students together share a commitment to ensuring that, as the School develops, it retains its distinctive Christian ethos, its focus on learning, and its sense of community. Bishop Ramsey School recognizes that every individual is created in the image of God. We seek to nurture each member of our community to develop his or her skills and abilities in a positive and ordered learning environment, so that students mature into responsible and caring adults, and that all members of the school community recognize the value of every individual in God's eyes. As a Church of England School, we wish students to grow in the Christian faith. While being firmly committed to this, we encourage an understanding of and respect for other faiths. The principle of Christian stewardship underpins our approach to the use of the School's resources. Our approach to our relationships is based on the Christian view of God's love for each of his human children and of Jesus' command to forgive and love our fellows. We base our approach to achievement and the provision of opportunities for development on Jesus' statement that he came to offer 'life in all its fullness. Like many other outstanding schools, we became an Academy in September 2011. This enables us to have greater control over the opportunities we offer our students to enrich their education. We also can offer our students truly outstanding facilities and resources following our £21 million building project, completed in April 2009. Since then we have made further improvements to our facilities including the refurbishment of our Science Laboratories and major improvements to our Sports Hall and Changing Rooms.
