Northcross Christian School Shaping lives that change the world. Northcross is a K-6 school providing quality Christian education in the Ryde area for over 35 years. Northcross is not just about excellence in education, sport, the arts, and community service but also about growing students into strong, confident, and resilient human beings. Our mission is to shape lives that change the world. We want to see our students go into the world and be future leaders, influencers, and world-changers. At Northcross, we want our students to have TOUGH MINDS, TENDER HEARTS, and SERVING HANDS. ACARA publishes the latest data on Australian schools on the My School website. We have analyzed the data and also reviewed other websites that collate information and make comparisons. One website that we review is Better Education. In the past, newspapers such as Weekend Australian listed top schools. There is a general trend to minimize comparisons now. We are mindful that NAPLAN is just one indicator of a school’s success and the education it provides. What I do like to share is that according to Better Education, Northcross is ranked third of all NSW Primary schools behind Sydney Boys Grammar and St Aloysius Boys, both of whom are selective, single sex schools. We, on the other hand, are non-selective and co-educational. We could say that based on 2017 NAPLAN results for non-selective, co-ed schools, Northcross is ranked number one Primary school in NSW. If we extend this nationwide, Northcross is ranked sixth of all Primary schools, and once again, if we remove selective, single sex schools, Northcross would be third in Australia! This is something to celebrate, acknowledge our commitment to ‘Tough Minds, Tender Hearts and Serving Hands’, and keep the focus on educating the whole child as we ‘Educate to Eternity. This is a fantastic achievement, and in my report to Board, I wrote ‘The substantial gains reflect our commitment to professional learning and teaching from excellent staff, the resources (human and capital) we dedicate to students, plus parents supporting, partnering and valuing the education of their children and of course great kids! Northcross is one community that is growing, flourishing, and learning together. The story of Northcross was birthed in 1981 when God called Ryde Baptist Church to begin a school. These pioneers faithfully and obediently followed God’s call, and today we see the great fruit of their step of faith. At the center of our school is Jesus and from Him flows a culture of faith, joy, and respect. Our community is a vibrant and beautiful tapestry of families who are connected through faith. Our Mission is Northcross Christian School is a vibrant Christ-centred community, delivering a quality biblically-based curriculum that encourages each person to reach their full potential as they actively serve and encourage others. Our Vision is Shaping lives that change the world.
