Your Moody education begins in the Word. Every student in every major spends more time studying the Bible than any other book. Our objective is to train students to pull the truth from the Scripture pages and immediately apply it practically in the world. We take education beyond the walls of the classroom. The intense academic study comes alive through strategic volunteer opportunities as our students leap learning the Word to living it while they do ministry. At Moody, we treat ministry and career as a single focus. We do not offer professional degrees with Bible on the side—we train men and women to make serving Christ their lifelong pursuit. It is the marriage of higher learning and a higher calling. As higher education and media ministry, Moody exists to equip people with the truth of God's Word to be maturing followers of Christ who make disciples worldwide. Moody Distance Learning Continuing Education programs allow you to enhance your ministry skills and cultivate your ability to accurately understand and effectively communicate the truth of God's Word. Outside scholarships are awarded from organizations not necessarily affiliated with Moody Bible Institute. These funds are awarded based on academic achievement, talent, or other criteria. Scholarships usually do not need to be repaid. Students who believe they have a disability that might affect their academic performance or access to classes, learning, programs, or facilities at Moody and require accommodations or auxiliary aids and services should contact or visit the Student Resource Center to discuss possible accommodations. These accommodations are available to all students with a qualifying disability; however, it is the responsibility of persons with disabilities to seek available services and make their needs known to the Student Resource Center. Moody Bible Institute's Student Resource Center is open to all campuses and schools and aims to make all college services, activities, facilities, and privileges accessible to qualified persons with disabilities. Moody Bible Institute's Student Resource Center is open to all campuses and schools. The Student Resource Center seeks to help students improve their academic performance and achieve a good grade point average while at Moody Bible Institute by offering study skills, test-taking, and time management. Peer tutoring is also available for students on our Chicago campus. Our tutors assist with specific courses as well as general skills such as writing papers. Students are allowed two free tutoring hours per week per subject throughout the semester. Your career is meaningful. Moody boasts a large international student population with over 200 students from more than 50 countries and six continents, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Ecuador, France, Germany, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, New Zealand, Romania, South Korea, Thailand, and the United Kingdom. We also have over 100 "missionary kid" students from every corner of the globe. D.L. Moody's interest in the educational endeavors took root in 1870 when he met Miss Emma Dryer, principal, and teacher at Illinois State Normal University. The following year, while ministering to the needs of thousands who were left homeless by the Chicago Fire, Dryer began developing a Bible study program, teaching, and home visitation for young women. Mr. Moody persuaded Dryer to stay in Chicago and carry on her Bible work under his church's auspices. During the next decade, Moody continued his evangelistic work involvement, and Dryer developed the training program among women in Chicago.
