Our mission is based on an educational philosophy of balanced development by which the ideal of holistic education can be achieved. A holistic education embraces four balances. The balance between knowledge in one's professional field and a general understanding of humanity. The balance between personal integrity and competency. The balance between one's role as an individual and as a contributing member of society. The balance between body, mind, and spirit. Our goals are to nurture students expressing the essence of our mission in their profession and outlook on life and retain the wisdom absorbed from their college experiences. In 1965, senior Kuo Ming Tong member Wong Zhong-shan, National Assembly deputy Lee hong-Chao, Lao li-xu gathered together. They decided to devote what they had at hand and made it into a name brand school to prepare an appropriate workforce during ROC's industrialization in the 70s. The number of students in the same year reached its peak at 15,000 historically. Alumna and alumnus were over 70,000 worldwide, and several were prominent industry entrepreneurs already. Mr. Wong Guang-sheng is the standing chairman of the Board, and Professor Yang Chao-Chen is the university's standing president. University took its school name "Ming-Hsin" from Da-such Scroll—translation of the original Chinese meaning: the purpose of studying is too explicit virtue, to equip people, to improve incessantly until you reach thorough welfare for the whole people. It is the firm belief of presidents of this institute ever since the school started. Ming-Hsin is located in Xin-zhu Hsien, Xin-Fong Hsiung, with a school campus over 30 hectares. It is right beside Provincial High and is pretty close to Zhong-shan First Highway. With good green foliage, it is excellent for pupils to cultivate professional skills and good virtues—perseverance, originality, and innovation—also the school motto for its pupils. To prepare you for internationalization and economic liberalization, Minghsin University of Science and Technology has established the professional courses and counseling system to provide international students with a global view and prepare to take on the new challenges of the 21st century. Minghsin University of Science and Technology has 42 years of history and enjoys a tremendous educational reputation. It has become an accredited university with four colleges, nine graduate schools, and 18 departments. Office of Research & Development is the university agency to connect with government, industries, and community for university development, research, intellectual reinforcement, continuing education, career development, and alumni services. These tasks are divided into four subdivisions that are University Planning Center (UPC), Research & Technology Promotion Center (RTPC), Extension Education Center (EEC), and Career & Alumni Services Center (CASC). University Planning Center (UPC) is an agency for submitting grant proposals and accepting grant awards for its integrated and strategic project and development. The office drafts and plans the mid-to the university's long-term development and administers the external supports (such as grants and funding from the Ministry of Education) to academics. It is also responsible for the integration of supports and establishing the valuable characteristics of the school. It is an agency for submitting grant proposals, accepting grant awards, and focusing on individual research, group projects, and other scholarly activities (such as faculty member training, seminars, and conference). Technology transfer and intellectual property management activities are also provided through this office. The tasks of RTP are (l) to correspond to external research sponsors and internal resources to administer the internal grants for research programs. (2) to support the research and project activities and promote the research outcomes. (3) to establish a partnership with external resources in technology and business aspect. (4) to connect and promote university services to businesses (such as technology research & transfer, employee training, technical consulting, testing, professional workforce, a programmed student internship, etc.) and establish a partnership with businesses and industries for profit or educational purposes. (5) Evaluate, promote, protect, market, license, negotiate, and maintain inventions and other intellectual property and technical services. MUST realize that internationalization has become more critical for engineering schools; we have been globally active. We have been recognized as one of the best vocational training schools in Taiwan.
